Hi, I'm interested in learning to create nice B & W images from color. I've covered "The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 3" almost in it's entirety. I've even gone over several sections several times. I've either completely missed something or I just don't get it. For instance, after going through and completing the 42 steps for separating the color components so as to understand how the "Split RGB" power tool functions, I'm at a loss as to what to do with those separations in order to create the B & W that I desire. Even after "Extracting Luminosity from Color", what then?
I think that I may be in over my head  If it's up to me to be creative with the separations in order to achieve my desired result then I'm in big trouble because I don't have a clue as to my next move. If someone could give me a shove in the right direction with (possibly) an example of how they might go about creating a B & W after separating the components or extracting luminosity I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you,
Wilbur
