Hi all
I am in the midst of scanning all of family negatives and slides
I purchased the DIMAGE Scan Dual IV last year and have gotten great results.
Only thing missing is the digital ICE now provided by other scanner vendors.

For this I am using two seperate SW tools

A. The Dust and Scratch removal tool provided by KonicaMinolta with the scanner (Photoshop plugin)
B. Polaroid's Dust and Scratch removal tool (also Photoshop plugin)

Is there any other SW tool similar to the Kodaks digital ICE that can be used?

Thanks
Danny

ICE, at least the dust removal part, is a hardware technology with no software equivalent.

Hi Doug and thanks
I am aware of the fact that ICE is a hardware/software technology but do you know of any other software applications that are worth trying (besides the ones I am using as mentioned)?

I don't know of any seperately available software but it must exist.

As I understand it the technology implemented in some flatbed scanners
(eg FARE in Canons and something similar in Epsons but I can't remember what they call it)
for auto clean up of prints, is software only as there is no transmitted IR from a print to use for an ICE system. Having never used it though I have no idea how much user intervention is required or how successful it is.

Maybe someone knows better, am I wrong? Is the flatbed providing additional information. If not is it possible to load an image into the manufacturers software to attempt post processing? If the flatbed is providing extra information can someone explain it as I understand how transmitted ICE works but not a reflective ICE process.

Cheers

Reflective ICE uses two light sources, judging any difference from them to be an object with depth (ie: casting a shadow) and then attempts to remove said object.

A. The Dust and Scratch removal tool provided by KonicaMinolta with the scanner (Photoshop plugin) regarding this product, do you know if they have this available for download and not just as part of their scanner(s)??
