The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta today announced the
identification of a new and rapidly spreading disease.

Tentatively named Acquired PhotoShop Syndrome, the disease is
highly infectious. Scientists at CDC say the disease is caused by a
bacillus called staphloaibrush because of its brush-like shape. Under
the microscope the bacillus is long and slender with bristle like
appendages at one end. Variations of this disease strain include Acquired Corel Painter Syndrome and Acquired PaintShop Pro Syndrome, all equally as debilitating.

Symptoms of the disease include feverish babbling about
desaturation, channels, impasto, fill, and talking to invisible friends such as
Lzk897, Luv2pnt, Pixeljoy, etc. Additionally, symptoms include
feverish trading and storing of filters, masks and plug-ins, and a
groaning graphics folder, as well as loss of time consciousness.

The disease is especially dangerous because not only is it passed
directly from one infected individual to another, but documented
cases have been found where the victim contracted the disease from
reading an online tutorial or joining a digital art forum.

The CDC says that the disease is prevalent on servers around the globe.
Family members should be aware that while the disease may occasionally
enter remission, it is at present incurable.
The patient should be given a quiet corner with a comfortable chair,
ample supply of snack type treats, and good lighting. Interruptions
should be minimal.

How true...i have all the symptoms.....do you think i need to be quarrentined...think it would have to be a warm cosy room with a super new new computer with the biggest brain ever.....with unlimited connection to Retouch pro and our invisible friends...sadly or not, for us with the disease there will be no cure and we will continue till we go on to the great art room in the sky!!!!

A quick look at some of the conversations going on at the breeding ground reveals subjects like......
"I miss the stink" and "Dodge and Burn ". Seems to reveal some sort of guerrilla alchemy.

Tossing in breeding ground and it takes it to a whole new level of alarm eh? LOL! I tell ya. If you're missing breeding stink you need to come to my house. My husband's work boots will get you over that hump in a quick hurry! Talk about dodge and burn (hes a fireman.) ::snort:: :D

Oh my! I've been infected with this bug and it has mutated, taking advantage of my already weakened immunity to research addictions. In my case, it manifests itself in my family history research causing me to spend hours talking to ancestors, wondering if that row of white specks is dust or buttons, or if that's a crease in the photo or a family trait of bushy eyebrows.

I am not content to simply restore the photo. I must date it, identify everyone in it, research the photographer and the history of the photo process that produced it. I pore through online census images and speed off to libraries to find city directories.

I contact perfect strangers who are distantly related, asking for more old pictures. I even beg friends to let me work on their problem photos.

The bright side of this affliction and the fact that there is no cure is that I'm learning something new everday, thereby keeping my brain active and my inqusitive nature satisfied! Now, back to that wrinkle in Great Grand Uncle Isaac's earlobe.

well, the CDC has finally announced that there is a cure, at least for one strain, the wildly infectious 'photo art' strain. it's really quite simple, take two art critics and call me in the morning.
