| View Full Version : Cool singing Santa Ed_L 12-24-2005, 07:01 PM Enjoy! http://www.reuters.hu/card_dom/index_content.html CJ Swartz 12-24-2005, 08:40 PM Thank you, Ed! I was a bit suspicious at first, even though it was posted by you, that it might be a joke. But it's a nice pop version of "White Christmas", and I enjoyed the reindeer soloist at least as much as I did Santa. Singing Santa, singing reindeer -- it's Christmas -- everything good is possible! :pleased: Kraellin 12-24-2005, 08:58 PM nice one, ed :) and merry christmas to all :) craig Gary Richardson 12-25-2005, 03:00 AM That's just given me my first smile this Christmas Morn. Christmas here wouldn't be the same without Ed's singing Santa. :D :D :D http://www.mesasoftware.com/merrychristmas.htm Gary, I agree!! I started wondering who the singers were because I really enjoy their version, and finally tracked the answer down to The Drifters (whom I loved as a teenager -- "Save the Last Dance for Me", "Up on the Roof", "Dance with Me", etc.). I don't remember hearing it on the radio when they were BIG, but I found out that it's in the soundtrack for the movie "Home Alone". I imagine most people heard it there.... or on the internet with them disguised as Santa and his reindeer. I also found that Bing's version is still the biggest selling song -- lots of us want to hear Bing sing Christmas songs, watch "The Christmas Carol" and "Miracle on 34th Street" as part of the tradition. I guess some of the younger generations have other traditional favorites... 1STLITE 12-06-2006, 09:22 PM Yes, I have enjoyed this version by The Drifters for some time. BUT - This singing Santa and his reindeer is just awesome!! If I didn't know better I would think it was recorded just for this animation PERFECT. Thanks, CJ, for digging it back up!! I reallllly love it!! Dawn Gary Richardson 12-07-2006, 02:14 AM Hi CJ, Didn't know it was The Drifters, thanks for that. I still watch White Christmas every year, despite the fact that I could probably recite it word for word by now, it's timeless (besides it distracts me from my hangover singing along with Bing :D ). patriciakay 12-07-2006, 02:44 AM Yes thanks so much CJ for finding this...as i as listening just now thought it sounded...Motown...glad you solved the mystery...i too love the Drifters songs and from time to time play the old LPs (usually when i am decorating, home alone and can safely sing along...without being heard!!!) Ah ...Home Alone...great film...guess it will be on one of the film channels around Christmas... Gary...I too still like to watch White Christmas...can you record your singing and make an animated video for next year???? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!!!! Patricia..... :classic: Gary Richardson 12-07-2006, 10:10 AM Gary...I too still like to watch White Christmas...can you record your singing and make an animated video for next year???? You've obviously never heard me warbling on my annual bath night, or you wouldn't be foolhardy enough to suggest such a thing. Tony Blair approached me and suggested I record my singing for use in resolving hostage situations, but was cited in the United Nations General Assembly for potential inhumanity and civil rights violations. :D :D :D It's no mere coincidence that my wife has hearing difficulties. On the positive side it does keep the house clear of mice and other pests. |
