Long rumored to debut at PMA in February, 2006, here's a pic of a pre-production model of the 30D.

Looks like it will be a real Nikon killer. :)

Darn it, it's way too big and heavy (and EXPENSIVE) for me!

I like the "pee break" and the pizza buttons, and I might like the "call spock" button except it looks like it might "beam" me somewhere...

I'm wondering about the 2 different images -- LCD and viewfinder seem to be taking 2 different images... even that new Kodak with 2 lenses can't do that!

I think Canon just lost all competition.

From browsing the popular galleries and PADs on PBase, I think a lot of people are already pushing that sex button! Oh well, whatever floats their boats.

Thanks for a fun camera image, Danny.

I am a newbie and on the lookout for Canon EOS 30D SLR Digital Camera. I was checking prices on PriceGrabber's and found that their expert review tab (http://www.pricegrabber.com/info_expertreviews.php/masterid=17423818)
was linking to a site that had a bunch of expert reviews/ratings for the Canon EOS (www.smartratings.com/productlink).

Welcome to RetouchPRO. Good links you've posted. Appreciate you doing that.

The 30D is a fine camera. Hope you get your hands on one soon so you can start shooting.

40D should be coming out before the Fall

40D should be coming out before the FallThe same was said last Fall for Photokina and for the recent PMA show, but nothing from Canon in that regard. There will always be something new (and more expensive) coming out down the road.

If he waits until 9/2007, he would miss 6 months of "learning to use a 30D" and the photo opportunities that would come with that. If he's got a decent camera and prefers to wait, that's OK too. In fact that's what I'm doing: I have a Nikon D70s and am holding out for the D200 replacement. Might be awhile on that one.

Just my $.02 worth...

Unless you have large hands, why not go with the XTi? The extra megapixels, the sensor cleaning feature, etc. all serve to make this camera not only more affordable but more functional than the 30D. It is a fine little camera.

I used a 30D on a "try it" basis and decided on the XTi because off the newer features. Also my hands are smaller and my wrists got tired holding the heavier 30D with the lenses attached. Ya gotta have lenses, right? :)

Whatever you decide, remember there will always be something you don't like about the new camera and something you do. Nothing is perfect and trade-offs are a reality.

You are smart to do your research. There isn't anything like an informed decision.
