Supposedly it's going to be a totally separate app, but my bet is it will eventually replace ACR.

I will disagree with you on that point. Lightroom is a stand alone product and ACR is a Photoshop plugin. Yes, they will share technologies. The notion is that you can buy which ever product best fits your requirements. In addition, Lightroom will be offered with Photoshop at some time in the future...skip
