Im struggling to get work. I want to retouch fashion photos and I dont know what to do to get clients. So far I have done work for two clients for free. I have emailled lots of photographers, had some interest but no work. I have had a lot of people on my site, but no work. I think I have come to the assumption not a lot of photographers need retouchers, so who in this world is it that looks for and hires freelance retouchers? Is it art directors, editors?

Who here does this sort of work and knows who I should be in contact with?

I am in the UK, but can work for anyone in the world over the internet :bigthmb:

It's hit or miss really. I have gotten some work from this site, some work from craigslist, some work from other sites.

A strong portfolio seems to be the catch all. I have tons of fashion work and higher end stuff in my portfolio as opposed to restoration. i don't do restoration.

Don't do work for free, you don't want to be referred by people whom you've done free work for "oh, call this guy he does work for free"....don't lowball the bids on your jobs....its sets you apart from the pack as an amateur, you may get a bit of work, but you will soon be associated with lower quality work, because of your low rates.

Just keep at it.
