I didn't know where to post this so I apologise if its in the wrong section. Does anyone know where I can find old BW or colour photographs that needs restoring that I can use in a portfolio and maybe a website?

Thanks in advance

I got some that where a challange to restore at an antique shop. Have no idea who the people in the photos are. I think they were a $1.00 each. Seems the worse they look the cheaper they are......

I happen to have a lot of pics that need restoring and you're welcome to use them if you're willing to send me a copy. As the original album stays with me, I want to make a digital album for my nieces and nephews.
They're from Albums of my late Aunt and go back as far as 1921.
I'm not at all skilled in retouching photos, so...if we could help each other perhaps?
I'll try post one or two here.

I could sent you the original scans on CD

Is there a way that I could also take advantage of your generosity?

Thank you Titia I would very much like those photos and send you a copy of the restored pics. Could you email me or me you to work out how to exchange?

Ok, that will be 3 cd's I have to make :) that's ok with me.

One for Chaz, one for Frank and one for Ken.

I will be home again next weekend, so if you please will send me an email to titiageertman@hetnet.nl with your home address, then I'll have your emailadress and an address to send the cd to.

I have yet to scan the photos though, so it will take a little time.

Chaz already send me an example and I was very pleased with the result and all the inheritants will thank you all most gracefully.

folks, why dont you use one of those file exchange services. i forget the address, but the idea is you can upload your files (pictures in this case) to a server and someone else can retrieve them. then, when they've done the work, they could post them back up and the original person could get the finished product. i know there's a free one out there and it doesnt carry the restriction that some email carriers have on file sizes.

With Gmail, you can send and receive messages up to 10 megabytes (MB) in size. However, the precise amount allowable will depend on the attachment.

With Yahoo mail, you can send up to three attachments totaling 10MB in any email message.

I prefer gmail...

Thanks guys, I have all three addresses now. Let me know if scanning the photos in the format .bmp is alright for you.
I'm at my aunt's house for a few days and will be home again on Tuesday next and then make the cd's and send them over to you.

I'm grateful for this deal, it means a lot to me to have those photos restored.
You may find that some of them are just scenery, but those are important as well, because it shows how it looked almost a century ago. Specially those with planes in it, showing part of our famous big airport Schiphol in 1922.

There are a lot of photos, just take your time, I'm not expecting them back tomorrow, LOL

Hi Titia.

Yes, BMP or Tiff files are fine. Scan them in colour (even the Black and White ones) at the resolution you want.

There is some good info on scanning here

The cd's are in the mail. I wanted to send you private messages, but I have to wait 2 minutes between them, so I decided to let you know this way.

Good luck and take your time, I'm in no hurry.

You may send them back to:

Here's the first and I thank you for the practice. I love the art approach. Looks as if these two were painted when the artist asked if they would pose.

Hi Titia.
I received the CD this morning, Thank you.

Chaz and Frank. Shall we divide the work up?
There are 93 Pictures to restore. This splits to 31 pictures each.
P1000094 – P1000126
P1000127 – P1000162
P1000163 – P1000194

Shall we take a group each so that we are not duplicating pictures to send back to Titia?
(this would not stop us using any of the others for our web sites It would just avoid duplication.)

If this is OK then please choose the group you want.
