Why don't you share your methods and workflow so that others may learn k Akbar Tahir 02-26-2006, 10:26 PM i tried to make it for a poster or magazine edgework 02-27-2006, 04:55 AM I Just Finished Up Another Job..... Your numbers are good. A problem I find (I do similar work, myself) is that when all the numbers are in line, and it still needs a little pop, how to keep the numbers from going off the reservation. I use a curves adjustment layer in Luminosity mode, and do a contrast adjustment to the magenta channel. Works like a charm. The curve is never steep enough to affect the hue, and it usually gives that needed boost to the shape. If I'm in RGB I'll usually just go into CMYK for the move and then back, though sometimes copying the file and stealing the magenta plate as a layer mask for the curve layer in RGB works almost as well for a green channel move. http://edgework.tripod.com/samples/magcontrast.jpg edgework 02-27-2006, 09:56 PM I always do it in cmyk, I have never tried it in RGB. Like you I learned in CMYK and I think in those numbers. I'm not at all fluent with the numbers in RGB: couldn't give you off the top of my head a formula for blood red, Kelly Green, gold or good skin tones, whatever the ethnic derivation. But by treating the RGB channels like CMY, I get good results. Sometimes I'll dupe to CMYK to steal the black plate as a layer mask for a luminosity curve, which does a nice job with shadows. Where I work, we deliver a large portion of our images in RGB format now, so I've had to get up to speed, but it's still a process of translation. |
