Kept this one very simple (very tired). I used Retinex enhancement and then used your djroil24 preset and some smudging and selective erasing for thsi pastel. :)

Wonderful ambiance, On Air. My only comment is the ships may be too big in proportion to the light house.

Thank you very much. I was on vacation in Tallinn, Estonia and saw big sea ferry boats departure from a harbor in the late evening and several swans swim along shore. White swans were unexpectedly bright in the dark and it was very exciting.
I just tried to create a kind of expression, i had there.

i like that 'thread2' technique on the lighthouse! if you could convert it into a needlepoint pattern my mother's 'quilt guild' group would probably adopt you ;) you've definitely refined it well!

nice, palms. can definitely see the fingerpaint.

just curious here, have you ever heard of a technique of painting with the fingernails? i seem to recall hearing about this where the person would trim each nail slightly different, some rounded, some squared off and so on and would then put paint between the nail and the finger and paint with the nails being the brush. i suppose you could liken this to the old quill pens dipped in ink.

Due to boredom carried on a bit with the post above and added another impressionist layer and desaturated, it gives a weird effect but for some strange reason (probably the boredom) i like it ! ! ! !

Hey Craig,

When I was an Engineer, they asked me to do very hard tasks in an hour. They did give me all day to do the impossible. I delivered by the way. I'm now much older and wiser and not as much a hustler as I use to be. Maybe I might see if I can modify some parameters to get the cross-stitch to look right; GIMP's GIMPressionist has a cross-stich capability, but I have not played much with it. :)

i dont know that there's anything wrong with it, since i know little to nothing about needle point, or cross stitching for that matter. it might even work as a needlepoint pattern as is. i just like it.

Here you go Craig. If you have GIMP, you can get the custom GIMPressionist preset here (http://www.wingimp.org/tutorial/). I did do some edge detect sharpening and bumpmapping. For me to use Impressionist, I would need to create a custom brush (simple X shape); too lazy to do so now, so I pass the torch for the adventurous folks out there. :)

ah, ok. i perceive the difference. hmm, maybe i wasnt thinking of needlepoint at all in your original... or more likely, i dont know what needlepoint really is. i do know that your first one reminded me of some sort of needle work i've seen...embroidery maybe?
