Hello im new here,& a beginner at photoshop so bear with me please.
Iv just bought the 4 seasons of the hit tv series 24 from play.com,my problem is i,d like to make my own covers for them 35 in all,useing one picture for the spine, i.d like to no the best way spit the spine picture up into 35 segments? I tryed to save one layer at a time but got no joy. Please help.

Welcome disgo to Retouch Pro. One way and an easy one is to use the picture package command in photoshop. Use file/automate/picture package and then select (16) 2x2.5 inch photos on an 8x10 page. I did that and then copied that to a new layer. I increased the canvas size and then copied the photos and dragged them over to the empty canvas.

There are several other ways to do this also.
