Patriciakay Steve Conway 04-07-2006, 10:01 AM Here's that Spanish 'tunia done in a sketchy painty style.
Steve patriciakay 04-07-2006, 10:10 AM Lovely Steve....like the pencil look...did you do it with layers or a plugin???
patriciakay Steve Conway 04-07-2006, 11:13 AM Used Buzz, and the pencil was from Impressionist. Used duped layers and blending.......and thanks.
Steve

patriciakay cardmnal 04-07-2006, 02:13 PM Here is my attempt at an oil pastel look.
Successful? I am not so sure but it was fun and I do like the results as a work of photoart. :pleased: palms1 04-08-2006, 02:04 AM Oh well had another one of those times need to go and sit down in a dark room
Was trying something different and came up with this, strange i know but i quite like it and it is different ?
Great photo Patricia, it will be a long time before i can take a picture of a petunia in my garden, we are that far out of season i havent sown the seed yet ! ! !
Palms patriciakay 04-08-2006, 02:18 AM Really does look like an oil pastel look cardmnal....i like it...
Palms this is different its a watery effect and really pretty, always good to come up with something different..... Petunias in the garden.....well it will be a long time before i can plant them here in my garden...snow everywhere...:cold:
Patriciakay Kraellin 04-08-2006, 10:40 AM here's one using several different plugins on several different duplicated layers set with several different blend modes. the two primary plugins used were Funhouse 'turbine mirror' and dreamy suite's 'DS Bonus- ghosted' preset. there was also some hand painting on a blank raster layer, duplicated several times and set to different blend modes.
the hardest part was in picking a variation of all the blend modes possible on all the different layers.
craig patriciakay 04-08-2006, 10:48 AM Craig ...wow...like this one its so different and colorful... :pleased:
well I am managing two layers easy now...but when it comes to moving them about ...makes me nervous...ah well you used about several? hmn....hopefully i will get to that stage in the not too distant future....
Patriciakay Kraellin 04-08-2006, 11:12 AM patricia,
thank you :)
attached is the layer palette for that one.
one of the reasons i love digital so much is that it takes the 'fear of mistakes' out of the equation, to a large extent. dont like it, made a mistake, hit the Undo button! i tried oil painting years and years ago and could just never find the Undo button, so gave it up ;)
craig msfrigyfrog 04-08-2006, 01:12 PM just looked like a nice trivit to me patriciakay 04-10-2006, 06:29 AM Thanks for your layer palette Craig...advanced a little more yesterday and managed 4 layers and managed to move them about...if i can learn a little each day i am happy....i used to do watercolors and if you make a mistake it can destroy the whole picture...i think with oils you can just paint over, so its a little better...i had 4 largeish canvas s bought for a Christmas presant..so i have decide to have a go in acrylics..flowers of course...in big... all help and comments gratefully received...
msfrigifrog, certainly does look like a nice trivit, what a good idea...
Patriciakay Kraellin 04-10-2006, 06:40 AM patricia,
yup, a little each day does wonders.
i shld also mention with the oils, or any other painting as far as that goes, that my drawing looks like neolithic cave painting. so, that's the other reason i gave it up :) thus, my hat's off to anyone who can actually paint, oil, watercolor or otherwise.
craig patriciakay 04-10-2006, 07:02 AM Craig i think the important thing with any hobby we take up is that we have fun and like our own results...Painting with different mediums is not everyones cup of tea, being able to draw is another matter...being self taught, i know my drawings are not perfect...but you could always do abstract as long as the colors sing...Agree though that digital art is an amazing thing and very addictive...
PatriciaKay... MargaretM 04-11-2006, 09:18 AM Another version of the petunia. Done mainly in Painter with watercolor brushes. Thank you Patriciakay for this nice pictures. Love the touch of painter pottery in this photo.

Patricia  oltenius 05-27-2006, 04:13 AM Thanks Patricia, I think that it was an ill-advised attempt with your beautiful spanish flower :depressed patriciakay 05-27-2006, 04:37 AM Oltenius...no depression necessary...I liked it...anyway you could always do another if you like!!!
