Peter lkroll 04-14-2006, 08:01 PM Beautiful capture Peter. Hope you like this one. Used Flaming Pear's Mr. Contrast and Danny's djroil24 preset for this one. For the glow, I used one of my favorite GIMP tricks; I ran Xero's Pastellize filter on a separate layer and set the layer property to Divide. I also added a few selective smudges too. Here (http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/5008/honey4mq.jpg)'s the complete hi-res rendering. Attached is a low-res crop. :) klassylady25 04-14-2006, 09:13 PM And to think I spent all of last summer getting rid of a fenceline of this flower!! ;) Thank you for sharing. By the way, the butterfly is real. It does have transparent wings! Swampy 04-15-2006, 10:26 AM Peter Great get! Too lovely not to play with! :-) I was going for drama. Selected the main flowers and copied to their own layer Ran an omni lighting filter on them. Texture on the original background and darkened the highlights Peter S 04-15-2006, 02:21 PM Great stuff Swampy - coming on good with that Wacom I see Peter Swampy 04-15-2006, 02:31 PM Thank you, Peter! I did get a new Wacom for Christmas. This one has buttons and bells and whistles, but I don't have any of the extra features set up to do anything. Peter S 04-15-2006, 04:24 PM I did get a new Wacom for Christmas. Peter Swampy 04-15-2006, 05:34 PM No I haven't, Peter... Thanks for the heads up. I'll check 'em out. :-) Kraellin 04-15-2006, 11:58 PM candice, if you dont post that butterfly in a separate challenge, i will (with due credit of course :) ). when i first saw those transparent wings i thought, dragonfly! and i had to read it several times over and look at it again to be sure it wasnt. it's an excellent picture and worthy of a challenge. craig Steve Conway 04-16-2006, 09:46 AM A little Honeysuckle...Gertrudis style. Steve Swampy 04-16-2006, 10:12 AM Steve, did GP do the saturation, or did you control that? WOW (putting on my sunglasses... LOL) Steve Conway 04-16-2006, 11:56 AM I ran Paint Shop Pro's "auto-saturation" several times to get the color up a bit. Than applied GP using several of the styles and brushes therein. Sorry about your eyes. 8-) Steve Steve, did GP do the saturation, or did you control that? WOW (putting on my sunglasses... LOL) klassylady25 04-16-2006, 09:19 PM Post away, just remember to send it home!! ;)http://photowebs.blogspot.com/2006/03/transparent-butterfly.html (http://) Janet Petty 04-17-2006, 06:08 AM klassy, the url is invalid and cannot be loaded. :heul: It is such a beautiful butterfly. Used mainly Painter and chalk brush - just experimenting and not trying to produce a great work of art. MargaretM goose443 04-18-2006, 12:32 PM No effects, just some subjective color treatment. Swampy 04-18-2006, 12:47 PM Margaret... Very nice. Our local highschool does a chalk on sidewalk project every year and the kids come up with some pretty neat stuff. Yours has all the texture necessary. Nice job. Goose...
