No filters just brushes.
When I first open the image, I do my adjustments -- size, color (hue and saturation), anything that would interfere with the history state further on in the process. You cannot make any of these adjustments after you’ve started using the art history brush.
Once these adjustments are made, save and close the image.
Re-open the image now and create a new layer and fill this layer with white.
Create another new layer, leaving the blending mode to normal and now use the NEW “TM Impressionist Brush” to completely fill this layer with the image. Now this brush works best with a graphics tablet. This is because you can apply pressure to increase the size or ease up on the pen to decrease the size of the brush tip.
Create a new layer and set the blending mode to hard light. Use the “Art History Brush Spatter 15A” to paint in the entire layer. Increase or decrease the size of the brush as needed. Try and get as much detail with this large brush as you can. What I normally do is use a larger brush tip for the background and a smaller size tip for the subject itself. Once I’ve completely filled in this layer with the image, I will use a different brush NEW“TM Detail Brush” for the finest of the detail. I adjust the size between one and six pixels at this point. This all really depends on what size the original image is anyway (what size dpi and what size the physical dimensions).
Merge the layers together and apply a texture if you like.
