I promised Ro' that I'd post some of my recent pictures for everyone to play with. Between scratching chigger and tick bites from the photo shoots, and normal everyday stuff, I've not processed much. When I do, ya'll be the first to benefit. :)

In the meantime, here are a couple from a day at a wild animal refuge. Yes, this is the bobcat from Swampy's wood thread.

Enjoy; but please don't post these anywhere but in this forum. Thank you.

Great shots, Janet, :wavey:

Looks more like National Geographic stuff than RetouchPRO.

Between scratching chigger and tick bites I hate those chiggers! Little dab of clear nail polish is the best thing I've found.

Gorgeous photos, Janet! I especially love that chicken.

Ahh, Cat. Yes I've heard of the clear fingernail polish; but alas, it doesn't work for me. What does work is Pennyroyal oil. It not only dries out the little sores but kills what caused the sores in the first place. Yeah, yeah, I know the stuff stinks to high heaven but tis worth it for tramping in them thar hills.

I'll be the first to conquer the cat....no pun intended Catherine.

Great sketch action. It is so satisfying when you find an action you like isn't it? I especially like the cat. I never would have thought of that style for him on my own; but it works and works well.

chiggers are little itty bitty critters that bite a peron and leave a welt much like the mosquito. at least you can smash mosquitos.

Janet - what kind of chicken is that?

I was going to paint young Bob, but after setting it up in Photoshop I liked the result and decided to stop.
So here you go, a glamour bobcat retouch!?

very nice, Ro. i like it.

and anyone interested in chiggers, see this: http://www.fcps.k12.va.us/StratfordLandingES/Ecology/mpages/chigger.htm

nasty little critters. they'll eat you alive (figuratively). we have them around here and i get them regularly in the spring and summer when out working. my dad talks about how to prevent getting them. it involves taping your pant's legs shut and some kerosene and i think one other item (i'll have to ask him again). not sure the prevention isnt worse than the bug.

I started out with a sketch, and then decided to use lighting effects for a different effect.
Thanks for the feedback everyone :bigthmb:

Fox, that came out very nicely.

Haven't done any AHB painting in a while, almost forgot my little tricks.
Here's Bob again.

AHB, 4 different sized directional AHB brushes.
Hard light blended with the textured background.
Then a bit of lighting for fun.

A fantastic shot, Janet!

I'm very familiar with bob cats. I have them in my back yard a dozen or so times a year. Your's is a great photo.

In my version I wanted to put this guy in a "studio" setting with a environmental backdrop.

I do. I do.   In fact, I found it on a cd in a discount store the other day and bought it so I could share the silliness with my grown up children.

GREAT work everyone. I'm so glad you are all having fun.

fox,
very nice. would have preferred a touch more contrast, but that's just me.

Ro,
that one is fascinating. i had the distinct feeling that if someone just snapped their fingers, he would move again.

dee dee,
love the lighting and studio look. hate that one tree in the background...too prominent. the one near his eye.

had a go at this also. this was just for fun and probably shld have saved it for halloween :)

I think I forgot to mention that this cat LOVED me. Nobody else (according to the refuge owner) has ever had this special treatment. Of course I might have been in danger if I had been frightened. But there was nothing but love, as you can well see. Sheesh, does this mark me as a cat lover or what?

Janet

P.S. Photo provided by a dear friend and my partner in photo frolics.

GREAT chicken Judy. I do so love your work.

I'd like to see it here on RetouchPRO as well, rather than a link. I don't know about others, but I often miss links. Links also get broken or the person does the gallery over and the link is lost. You are too good for us to lose out on seeing your work.
