This is my little sister's prom picture. Her face is super shiny. I have tried using the blur tool, and creating a new layer and working with the shadows and multiply but I can't get the shiny-ness to go away.

I did this by cloning at 30% opacity and smudged at 49%. Then I colour corrected her face to match the rest of her body colour. :)

Edit: Looking at NanIs image and what she said about highlights, I realised my image was way too dark so have uploaded another for comparison. I just duplicated the layer, set the blend mode to screen and 50% opacity.

this is just a 5 minute job, using the clone tool to rid blemishes, then two curves adjustment layers, one to lighten and one to darken. All skin should have some highlights otherwise the skin looks, flat and plastic. This could use more time, and I may have gotten it a little light, but you get the idea.

A quick balance.

Did this with the Healing brush tool not set to aligned so just sampling on area.
Also tweaked skin tone - looked a little too red for me.

Cropped, used adjutsment layers in soft light mode and curves in LAB to adjust light and shadowing. A touch of Neat Image to smooth and selective sharpen for contrast.

I use the clone tool at an even lower opacity to get ride of shine -- maybe 20% or even less. The more the original skin texture shows through, the more natural the photo will look. And you can always do your editing on a duplicate layer and experiment with blending modes-- darken, for example.

For this particular project I would probably use the healing brush in a new layer, and then lower the opacity of it to disclose some of the shine. Alternatively, you could airbrush it moderately.

Red eye removal. Skin smoothing. Lens Blurring of background. Lens Correction (Vignetting).
