Heelo everyone,
I started on a picture this morning useing the Gimp 2. I used a easy picture to restore for my first attemp. So far all I used was the blur and clone tools. Although it turned out ok should I have used some of the other tools instead, or was this picture to easy to easy for the first pic to use? Is there a way to get better color on this pic?
Thanks for any advice you can give..

I took your second picture and did an "Auto Color" on it in Photoshop

To use the auto color feature in Gimp...
Layer > Color > Auto
If you want to have more control and not use the auto color feature, check out this page of the Gimp manual that tells you a bit more about the various tools available to fine tune the color of your image.
http://docs.gimp.org/en/ch06s04s03.html
As you are a beginner, the auto colors and levels are the easiest to use, but as you become more comfortable you may want to try out some of the other features for better results.

Hi Sharon "Newgimper"
of course you can with Gimp realize such "automatic"
corrections (look in image menu Layers - Colours - here you find many
usefull tools, the most interesting are: Curves and Levels, with them you
can change/adjust colours with more control than with "automatic" tools,
test how they work - you have preview, so you can manipulate as long as you find
something ok.)
Sharon, on the beginning you may work a bit with very good tutorials on this site:
www.gimpguru.org
they are good, because this nice guy not only shows how to do each step, but
he also explains "why", and "how it works", and gives tips for further reading.
Maybe you find there something interesting for you.
You may also read the Help files from Gimp - most of the tools are explained.
So try, experiment and have fun
