I hope you take a crack at it...

not my best - I got my layers mixed up half way through and then had to try to mask and repair - didnt go to well.

Always Like a photo done with a long lens separating the bg from the main subject. Nice shot.

Frank, This was probably one of the most "fun" projects I've set out to do in a while. Just a great picture with much "artistic" potential.

I'm not real sure how I got "here". I do know that after color adjusting, making the selection and doing a pencil sketch I spent a lot of time in the blending options dialog box. I experimented with different knockouts, and channel blends and I can't, for the life of me remember what I finalized on.

Thanks for the wonderful picture and opportunity to play!

looks pretty good to me, nancy.

i had a go also. this was done with the new Filter Forge, filter maker, with a filter i made in that program. (you can find more about filter forge in the software forum). i ran the filter, overlaid it on the original, duped it again and set the dupe to multiply. i then did this again and then cropped the whole.

Here is my try. I'v used Filter - Rough Pastels, brushes on a dup background layer, adjustment layers (selective color, color balance...) etc. Voila!

Thanks...and looks like that new filter program is working well for you. Still haven't downloaded it yet.

This is so beautiful photograph that it was really nice to work with it.
I'm having around 20 layers in my work. I start with one sketch method tutorial and then start to play with layer modes for adding some color back. I play long time with the background and use lightning effect for the flower.

Criag... love the textures!

Krissie... great use of lighting effects. And that black textured background is striking on this subject!

I've always wanted to use "patterns" and this was just the opportunity I needed. Several tries later, I now leave you with a beautiful basket for the apples you pick.

steve,
thanks. yes, we're having fun with Filter Forge

dee dee,
thank you :)

some very cool stuff here!

oltenius,
love the colors and the border. not real crazy about the somewhat ragged petal edges, but overall, very nice.

krisse,
that's definitely a WOW! very nice :)

klassy,
very cool use of backgrounds! nicely done!

lk,
nice on the first one, but really like the second one! very cool :)

ok, like i said to steve, we're having fun with Filter Forge. attached is another rendition done with a new filter i just made based loosely on a filter that cameraken made :)

Craig, have you tried making painterly, or brush stroke effects filters yet?

If so I might take the plunge.

oltenius,
thank you :)

steve,
i've thought about brush strokes for FF, but so far i havent really tried to do it. i'm currently working on a multi-art filter, but it wont have strokes. i know cameraken has worked on trying to make one for frames and borders, but it seems FF doesnt yet have that capability either. still, this is a VERY powerful, yet VERY easy to use construction kit for making filters. if you guys can handle learning photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, painter and others, this shld be a breeze. we've all gone hunting for filters; now, you can just make them and use those that others here are making. it's an impressive program.

palms,
more kitchen sink!! that's very nice!

i'm not sure if i accomplished anything special -- but i enjoyed playing with this photo -- it was done with various filters in Filter Forge and blending and whatever else i could think of.

Thanks Craig and Swampy
There are some real cool versions coming out in this one.

Craig i like the embossed one but the one that looks like porcelain is excellent

Frank i think the marble effect does sort of work, possibly it would be better if the blossom was more white and less pattern ( like the leaves )?

and swampy cant remember everything that i done but the i used anisotropic and a tip from you facet ( but just the once)

makeover,
glad to see you taking the plunge on filter forge. cool isnt it :)

frank,
certainly looks to be on stone. dont know about marble. certainly not polished marble, but the effect is great regardless.

lk,
am a bit surprised with your penchant for filters that you havent gotten filter forge yet ;) (god, i'm starting to sound like a saleman)

palms,
thank you :) i like the 2nd one better also. that was made with a filter i made called 'wet plastic' or 'wet glass', i forget. :)

A very nice image to work on. I used Lucas art filters on about three different layers of the image, and then used different layer modes until I had something that looked okay. I added some texture, and then I lost track of a few steps that I did.

Hello Frank...Lovely photo...your flowers must be ahead of mine...they are just opening out this week...

Love all the different artwork on this lovely apple blossom...amazing how many different ways a photo can be interpreted!!! well done to you all...

Here is mine...Done in photoshopCS2 with the art history brush ,blending mode...multiply...I then ran DC Special Beyond edger ( a great free filter and oh so useful) finished off with Lucis art sculpture mode...

I've been working on this technique for what seems like ages. I started with a tutorial but couldn't achieve the results I wanted using it. So I pretty much scrapped the whole thing and began my own journey into unknown realms. Finally, I have a picture I can post.
