Shame though that the thingy sticking out from the cheek and the other thingy dangling under the chin steal all the viewer's attention away.
Maybe blacking out the background completely would be a good idea too, just leaving a hint of the hat.

Highlights are slightly too burnt out. Otherwise nice image.

I like it. The effect really intensifies an already intense stare.
