He built it himself in Cornwall,England in the 1980 s it took him 8 long years and its still going strong...
Patricia ... :) Doug Nelson 06-05-2006, 07:40 AM Cool! The little people look so realistic :) NancyJ 06-05-2006, 07:44 AM Cool! The little people look so realistic :)
...I think the 'little people' are real ;) I think its a real boat.... patriciakay 06-05-2006, 08:53 AM Yes Nancy...you are correct....two of my friends who live in Cornwall...cant see Ray though!!!!
Patricia... oltenius 06-05-2006, 10:08 AM Patricia, I want to buy this boat! ;) patriciakay 06-05-2006, 11:49 AM Oltenius....Your moonlight painting is beautiful...I really like it...
Sorry but the boat is not for sale...After all Rays hard work over the years i think he will keep it forever!!!!!
Gotta say though I would like to have it too....
Patricia... Steve Conway 06-05-2006, 12:28 PM Patricia, has Ray mentioned anything lately about a slight leak he may have noticed in the boat?
Steve oltenius 06-05-2006, 12:30 PM Patricia, thanks for appreciations! It was just a joke, I don't have lots of money to buy this wonderful boat :) patriciakay 06-05-2006, 12:39 PM No Steve...Ray hasnt said anything to me....what have you heard??????
Lovely painting Steve, really bright and the boat looks as if its really moving with the brush stokes you gave it....
Oltenius....Know you were joking....we all should have a dream of what we would like...keeps us going.... :pleased:
Patricia.... Steve Conway 06-05-2006, 12:44 PM Just couldn't leave Ray in that condition. So here is another go.
Seriously, that's a nice looking vessel. To look as sleek and seaworthy as she looks today, she had to have been built with loving care. Some people have all the talent!
Steve patriciakay 06-05-2006, 01:00 PM Oh Steve thats great...Ray will be happy to see the lovely renditions of his boat.... He is indeed fantastic at all woodwork, at the moment he is replacing certain parts of his boat, as you know the wood rots...Certainly a labour of love...
Patricia.... palms1 06-05-2006, 01:49 PM Boats are not my strong point mainly cause they go on water !! i prefer dry land, but i would say that it is a labour of love takes me 8 years to get hubby to hammer a nail in
used impressionist and played with lighting effects to get the second patriciakay 06-05-2006, 01:58 PM Palms...I like both of them...Impressionist looks good on the boat and i like how the lighting effect makes the sky sort of stormy...
I like boats when i am in and going...dont like the getting in and getting off bit though!!!!
Patricia..... :pleased: lkroll 06-05-2006, 05:35 PM Working a various techniques for simulating daubing. Finally found a good way that uses whatever noise adding method that you like (I chose Cybia's Edgeworks>Glitter preset and Eye Candy's Jiggle preset). The noise diameter has to be of sufficient size for the effect to be acceptible (in my book anyway). You won't appreciate it unless you click on the link below and expand. I attached a resized version to keep Danny happy. :)

craig patriciakay 06-07-2006, 02:36 AM Lovely Craig...I like how the boat is highlighted with the darkness of the sea around it...have now got filter forge...so when i have a bit of time i will try my luck..... :lmao:
Patricia... kiska 06-07-2006, 02:41 AM Thanks guys! Kraellin 06-07-2006, 08:04 AM thanks patricia :)
it reminds me of something i've seen before but cant quite place when and where.
and watch out, patricia; that thing will cause you to miss work, lose sleep and become an annoying, inadvertant salesmen for filter forge ;)
craig barbara 06-07-2006, 05:52 PM here a small watercolor again
I used Gimp  Kraellin 06-07-2006, 10:05 PM very nice barbara. i like the texture.
craig Swampy 06-08-2006, 12:31 AM No Filter Forge just a paint by number kit. patriciakay 06-08-2006, 02:18 AM Craig...getting addicted already...its fun....
Barbara....Lovely watercolor...I also like the texture...
Swampy....yours is great...really like the colors and texture.....
Patricia.... Swampy 06-08-2006, 02:34 AM Thank you, Patricia. It was a fun project. I arrived at the colors by using the pencil in the Curves dialog box. Some of the coulds went to gray so I selected the grays with the magic wand and did a Hue Saturation to move the colors over to pinks. Steve Conway 06-08-2006, 09:49 AM HEY! I like that! two thumbs up for style and over-all look.
Best paint by numbers I ever saw
No Filter Forge just a paint by number kit. Swampy 06-08-2006, 10:26 AM Thank you so much, Steve. I'm a great admirer of your work so coming from you It's extra special! :-) Kraellin 06-09-2006, 12:16 AM dee dee,
i like that also. when i first looked i saw so much texture i thought you were doing a weave, a' la lkroll. very nice :)
craig Swampy 06-09-2006, 06:55 AM dee dee,

craig
I think it is "all that texture" that made me think of a paint by number kit. They never gave you enough paint to really cover the canvas. LOL sylvia1065 06-10-2006, 03:38 PM Not a really easy one to do, despite the appearances!
Here's mine, done mostly with smudging and an outline on soft light on top.
Sylvia Kraellin 06-10-2006, 11:13 PM umm, syliva....missing something?
here's another metallic from filter forge.
craig sylvia1065 06-11-2006, 10:29 AM Hi Craig,
The Internet died on me yesterday while I was uploading the file, and then I forgot all about it!
Sylvia patriciakay 06-11-2006, 03:07 PM Sylvia...Love the painting of Rays boat you have done so delicate with lovely colors...
Craig....Love this metallic effect on the boat...looks all dark and mysterious...
Patricia... :pleased: Kraellin 06-11-2006, 08:30 PM sylvia,
thought maybe you were getting as senile as me :) looks good :)
thanks patricia :) (am still having fun with filter forge)
craig sylvia1065 06-14-2006, 08:26 AM Not yet, Craig, but getting there... lol
By the way, I use that Alphaworks filter almost every day, thanks again for telling me about it!
Thanks for the nice comments, Patricia.
Have a nice day,
Sylvia Kraellin 06-14-2006, 11:59 AM Not yet, Craig, but getting there... lol
By the way, I use that Alphaworks filter almost every day, thanks again for telling me about it! well, good :) i'm just passing on what was passed on to me. and, you're welcome :)
craig sylvia1065 06-14-2006, 12:16 PM May I ask which part you're passing on?
Sylvia Kraellin 06-14-2006, 12:56 PM well, thankfully, the senility can not be passed on, so, i guess i'm talking about the plugins :)
craig sylvia1065 06-14-2006, 02:11 PM just wondering... lol
Have a nice day!
Sylvia Peter S 02-26-2007, 04:29 PM Doesn't look like there was much wind that day.
Peter patriciakay 03-06-2007, 12:47 AM Peter...
Love what you have done to Rays boat....great colors and details....Yes the sea around Cornwall can be calm and peaceful...my favorite place in England!!
Patricia.... :pleased: Janet Petty 03-06-2007, 12:40 PM Peter, my first reaction when I saw the thumbnail was WOW. When I opened it to the full size, it remained the same. WOW! Wonderful color and vibrancy.
Janet Ziaphra 03-06-2007, 12:52 PM Wow what a picture and what a response! Some great ones here! Just a quick rendition from me... Peter S 03-06-2007, 02:01 PM Peter, my first reaction when I saw the thumbnail was WOW. When I opened it to the full size, it remained the same. WOW! Wonderful color and vibrancy.
Janet
What can I say to that, but Wow myself Thank you Janet & Ziaphra.
I think I did this the night before my eye op, so I was doing anything but think about that. Sorry I can't remember the workflow, but would have been similar to other thing I've done. Thank you Palms for putting me onto Art history.
Some of the colouring would possibly come from Flaming Pears Zephyr plugin, I don't know exactly what it does, but it appears to look at existing colours in a pic and diffuse them out a bit, sometimes very pleasing sometimes over the top. This time it worked for me.
Peter GerryB 03-06-2007, 04:59 PM A combination of Watercolor, Dry Brush, Smudge. I also used curves to lower the contrast and lighten the highlights a bit. patriciakay 03-07-2007, 07:29 AM Gerry...
I love the simplicity of your painting...nice colors too...
Patricia... :pleased: GerryB 03-07-2007, 12:00 PM Thanks for the compliment, Patricia. I really enjoy these challenges. I started doing this with PE 2.0 four years ago when my Mother turned 100. It was a way to save some really old and precious pictures of my Grandparents and parents.
I'm not into people that much. I really love landscapes, flowers, beaches, Mountains, etc. Gary Richardson 03-08-2007, 01:43 AM Nothing Arty, just thought I'd change the atmosphere by altering the sea and the lighting a touch. patriciakay 03-08-2007, 02:01 AM Gerry...
What a great age...100 and a really good reason to enhance all the old family photos...I am also not into people photography...Flowers are my faves, followed by landscapes etc....Last summer i started with Macro and love the butterfly, dragon fly, bees wasps and anythig else that moves photos...I am really happy with the results...taken with my canon powershot...upgraded in September to a Rebel...so am looking forward to what i can produce with that...
Gary...Great enhancement...love how the sea shimmers!!!!
