I can't understand position of the kid, probably her face is most interesting like her back side, but I'm waiting, the earth turn around... I used Levels, Auto color, Paint Daubs, Angled Strokes, embossed layer and texture. Nice photo Palms.

hi - this is my first "artsy" post - what do you think? i am not too happy with my shadowing. i never tried that before.

my favorite picture of my daughters is their backs to the camera looking out onto the ocean, i take one every summer of them, so i thought this would be a great photo to alter to reflect that pose.

Oltenius Lovely posting i wanted this pose as i had in mind a painting on a beach etc ( also her parents are a bit dubious about posting a photo of her face on the web, ( i do have permission for this one though ) )

Philbach great one it as if she is wishing for something or not quite got the world at her feet yet ?

Dm Cher lovely of her on the swan one of my favorite birds

JohnnieB for a first artsy it is spot on and similar to what i had in mind for the photo ( want to do a painting with ahb )

Steve love it love it love it how did you do it just incase it can be replicated in Photoshop Please !

Kiska another one i love fabulous work

I tried to go for something loose and wild to contrast with the (seemingly) calm nature of the subject (please help me - I'm turning into my art teacher)
I hope the effect is as painterly as I intended, it may have lost a little something in the compression (had to go down to 25%)

Your welcome Johnnie!! And thank you for your kind comments. I first adjusted the photo levels, took out the background copy this and did lineart filter form xero. Merged this and copied the bottom edge of the flowers from the picture I added and past over the photo.

Thank you...nice comments indeed.

Mostly Buzz with layering, blends, and painting in a little detail here and there.

Sometimes the technique works well...sometimes it really makes a mess of the colors in an image. This one just seemed to work.

Nice pic, B.T.W. And interestingly different pose.

Steve

I bow to Steve and PJB. Just wonderful, wonderfl renditions!

In my never ending search to find tools that will give me soft chalky looks (or other painterly effects) I ran across Art Rage (http://www.artrage.com) This is a $20 painting program (Both Mac and PC with a dowloadable demo) with basic media tools (pencil, chalk, oil. palette knife, airbrush, etc) that I used for my version of the sun hat.

Now most of you who know me, know I can't draw/paint if my life depended on it. This was all done "by hand" (with help from the Wacom) with the chalk and pencils tools using default settings for opacity etc. Not as elegant as you pros, but I see potential. :-)

Not going to repeat my process again (just do a search). Final step was Eye Candy's Jiggle preset again. I attached a smaller size, lower quality version; here's (http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/449/sunhat3em.jpg) the full high quality rendering. Just click and expand to see the details. :)

Very nice Ro it has endless possibilities like she could be looking at the seaside etc hmmm food for thought and if there was a mirror you would have to have used the clone brush extensively to remove the ice cream and chocolate smears

palms,

yes, i'm afraid i've gotten a bit preoccupied with FF. quite an amazing program and the list of user-made filters is growing by leaps and bounds. but i havent even had much time for those, being knee deep in about 6 different creations of my own. you shld see some of byRo's! quite fascinating. one of the latest comments from one of the developers was, 'you guys are scaring me' :) i think that was in reference to one of Ro's brilliant creations.

ah, the second one. excellent! i like that one too. so, thank you :)

you have FF, right? try my newly uploaded filter, 'Kaleidoscopic Effects 1' and see what you think. i put in a ton of presets to help navigate. that thing can produce, i'm fairly sure, millions of different effects. and if they do what i hope they're going to do in the next version of FF, i'll expand that filter even more.

(i'll work on the mind reading :) )

I've been playing with my torn edges method again.
