I did this photo and it's now better than the original (she has real bad acne). But it's nagging at the back of my mind that there might be more I could do to it to improve it further. What do you think?

I just cloned the left side of each pupil on a separate layer and then flipped them horizontally and then positioned them. Use the eraser tool and the Clone tool or paintbrush to clean up. Syd Flora 06-18-2006, 12:35 PM Hi, RokcetScientist, It depends on what you want your final result to be ... 1) as natural as possible ... in this case I'd only try to tone down the colours in the somewhat overwhelming background ... 2) glamour retouch ... in this case Godmother gave you great tips. Hope this helps.. palomino 06-18-2006, 02:47 PM I agree that the eye reflections are a bit over the top for this particular photo...I added in some more natural catchlights...the main problem I saw though was the prominent yellow cast. I removed that and also desaturated the background some so the subject can stand out more. -Kate johnnieB 06-18-2006, 07:08 PM rokcetscientist, i think you did a good job -- all i did was remove the eye highlight, whitened her teeth, masked the background to adjust color, and fix skin tone a bit -- with more work, you can achieve a lot more. RokcetScientist 06-19-2006, 05:41 AM Thanks, guys. All useful tips. I have a problem with the teeth whitening, though, as teeth are ivory, thus ivory colored. And ivory is not white! So, white teeth are unnatural. esmith 06-19-2006, 01:34 PM Remove those reflections from her eyes. Syd Yes much better with out the reflections. Increasing the pupil size often makes the women more attractive. Studies show that men are attracted to female images or in person where the pupils are slightly increased in size It shows that there may be attracted to you. I don't know but we use this technique when retouching female models. See attached. |
