I took these photo's as a experiment to see what the difference was between the old and the new camera. So if you arent bored by flowers have a go they are yours to do at will just have fun

palms1 -- what beautiful flowers!

i've been smudging this one for awhile -- time to stop :heul:

i hope this isn't too vibrant -- i re-calibrated my monitor so i am not so sure if it is coming across too harsh.

i'll work on the other one later.

hope you like it and thanks again...

Palms, lovely photos. I'm glad I had some time to play with this.

Curves adjustment
Duplicated the file and converted to b/w and sketched. Brought back into the original file and played with opacity and blending modes.

Added Texture then painted back with a charcoal brush with the history brush.

A wonderful photo to challenge me on a Sunday morning! :-)

Thanks you much, Sylvia. It's a combination of Gertrudis Pro layered with Buzz, then played with blending on the layers.

Couldn't resist going a little bonkers on the flower image this time.

Threw a lot of stuff into the pot and came up with this.

I just love lilies! funny though... when I ordered a bulk mix for my garden I pulled out all the orange ones because they didn't go with the color scheme

Palms, great smudge, I love the think paint
Patricia, really cool look, almost metallic!
JonnieB, nice soft petals
Oltenius I like the subtle color in the flower
Swampy, really cool effect, I like the way the pencil looks like it is painted over
Steve, the toned down colors make this work great on your 1st and your next does look WILD!
Sylvia, that is lovely
Barbara, I love the way your flower petals came out in your watercolor, nice and soft!

Here's mine, done in painter with oil and watercolor brushes

Thanks...sometimes "wild" works when you can't come up with anything clever.

Palms,
I can't recall exactly what I used on this picture, but I probably used some layers of Fluff Paint : The Old Master, since I really like this one.
Also, I smudged the whole thing after applying the Impressionist layer. For smudging, I used a brush called Hair 34. I don't remember where I downloaded it from, but can send it to anybody interested in it.
If you are, let me know quickly, I'm leaving Canada in a few days and will be gone for a few months.

Nothernshadow, I like your picture and the subtle texture is great !
(is it a standard texture in Painter or made by yourself ?)

Steve Conway, great colours and nice effect

Other version, now made as an oil imitation (with more wild colours  )

I used Gimp

I have only had olympus cameras (point and shoot one's ) but my new one is a "own brand" camera (called centon ) from Jessops ( camera shop here in the uk ) It is 8mp, with both digital and optical zoom and so far i am getting on alright with it, I havent gone into any of the different settings yet just geting used to the feel of it for a while but i think it was well worth the money at £97 uk pounds, I do need to get a bigger memory card for it as the photo's are rather big in size. But other than that it is plenty good enough for what i want/need it for
