A friend of mine sent me a photo he took of a fawn. Unfortunately there's a semi-transparent white "streak" curving up from the bottom to about half way up the picture. He has no idea what it is and I have no idea how to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

Hi there

Not so hard to get rid of the streak, but it is a little hard to keep the colors from shifting. I just used a soft selection brush inversed and levels set to luminosity to reduce most of the streak. Then a very light application of color burn on a color burn neutral layer to increase contrast. If you wanted to take a lot of time you could adjust luminosity then color to get rid of the color shifts.

Butch, excellent work! BTW, the red/yellow combination in the deer is very easily selectable with a Hue/Saturation in case you want to shift the color back toward brown.

Hi,

negandhi,

welcome to RP! :pleased:

Lovely picture!!!!

Loosely selected the 'streak', copied and pasted it on a new Layer, duplicated this 'streak' layer a couple of times 'playing' with the Blending modes... Used Layer Masks to eliminate the corrections' bleeding to the rest of the image...

Butch,

I agree with Murray ... great job! .... (won't say anything about hue and saturation ...  ... )

Flora, wonderful job! Aside from your creative restoration skills, you have a unique talent for shifting images into their "sweet spots" of color, tone, and sharpness windows without every overdoing it.

Very well said Murray. Flora's ability to bring the images to life is tremendous.

I just wanted to say thanks to all the responders.

I was the "friend" that took the picture with the white streak.

I was amazed at both pictures.

Thanks for your help

Paul
