I moved to NY a little over a year now. Its been rough... but ony the strongest will prevail. need some advise on how to orient my careee a little more as a retoucher. I've been retouching for the beauty and fashion industry for 4 years. Ever since I got to NY I've only been freelancing through agencies and contacting photographers. My idea is to become independent but in the meantime I want to work for a good retouching house for a while. I'v send my portfolio book around...they look at it and the search continuos. I know thats the way it is till the right door opens... but I've had nymy ups and downs on what am I doing wrong to land a big time agency. I want this BAD and will achive this. But a little advise from the community is always healthy :)

Nice attitude, NABO. Do you have an online portfoilio? I'm in the NY area -- actually I'm about 20 miles into the Suburbs in NJ. I'm bedridden now due to a foot injury and taking it easy in Florida. When i get back I want to push the retouching/photography thing some more. I have a portfolio, but I need to update it.
