I thought this would be a good one for a BW conversion (can you tell I'm having fun with this kind of thing?) :)

Have fun regardless what manipulation style you would like to use.

Great photo Danny, have broke out of the painting mode for this one (nice change) as i dont really know what i am doing i hope to learn from this challenge especially as i do so love black and white photo's
Here's my go
first desaturated
then run pwl action ( would love to know how to get this action to
look/use as it should be )
then used burn just on the front footprints.

then i have sneaked in one with a tint (also a favorite of mine )

Great picture for experimenting with Danny. Thanks.

I went a different route inspired by a friend of mine who is into infrared photography. I wanted to see what I could do to simulate the effect in photoshop.

thought i'd change the perspective a little bit and erase all but one set of tracks.

So simple in GIMP. Just Dup for three layers, set the top layer to Value, the Center layer to saturation and fill the base layer with your color of choice. I did some cleaning/sharpening too; hope I didn't over do it. :)

Did some channel inversions and SA paint. Photoshop layer blends.

Very nice stuff everyone. Works great in b/w or color. Cyber Cat, to me, very tasty yummers! I duped, changed to difference, applied Blend If/Gray This 0/94 107/255 Under 0/191 118/255 and Blend If/Red This 204/255 Under no change.

Cheers

There's a nice Plugin from Optik Labs/Virtual Photographer and I used a setting "Satin Steel" on a duplicate layer/Blend Mode Lighten at 50%. Then applied Cybia Filter/Pseudo IR filter. These filters are freely available:-

Great results everyone :bigthmb:
