I found this awesome image at Stock Exchange. I love the whole feel of the image. You can find the huge version at http://www.sxc.hu/photo/561058

The kind of shot you always hope you come upon..especially when the fog drifts in.

Here are a couple of tries.

amy,

that's a great find. thank you!

steve,

i like both of those but the second one more so. just one comment on it, however, that translucent border seems a bit distracting. a solid one might have been better. but regardless, very nicely done!

Steve prefer the second one the most the red leaves really look like leaves, and Ziaphra thanks "your try " is great love the earthy tones

And yes had another go ( dont worry signing of for the night now) this time used a emboss action

Yeah...I can take it or leave it on the second one. Tried to see if I could do a combination of the images colors in a frame and they didn't line up as well as I wanted. Sometimes that works and sometimes.....

Thanks Palms...to me you gave the image a nice sinister, ominous look. Beauty with apprehension. Interesting combination.

Glad y'all like this one. I did about 6 versions before I got one I was even sort-of satisfied with. About 7 different filters applied to different parts of the image, PSP9 and finally VP.

Then in the second I did what I always do with an image... I used it as fodder for my own version of art.

Retinex, Xero's Carravagio filter, and GIMPressionist Apply Canvas preset with canvas set to 75% of size. :)

Craig tried to help you with a name but couldnt :depressed It is probably as hard to name as to create, and by the way love the third one, moody

thanks palms, on both counts :) the folks over at filter forge suggested it looked a bit like wax or cheesecloth so i may go with 'cheesy wax' or 'waxy cheese' :)

I used Gimp

and here my next version
to simulate aniso-look I used Gimp's greycstoration plugin, then changed
colours by channels manipulations, and then used nice canvas texture (thanks Sherry!)

I used Gimp

Yet another watercolor representation.
Mostly done in Gertrudis plus some additinal manipulations in Photoshop.
