Hi,

a friend of mine sis a moto-x photographer. He has asked how to combine a series of shots thus.

camera on tripod (nikon d2x) bike and rider at a jump spot. On take off he rattles off 8 + images (@ 8fps) thus capturing the various stages of flight of the bike. So background should be identical in every shot.

He wants to combine these into a single frame showing all 8 positions of flight. With the background exposed correctly and the foreground/subject exposed correctly.

He has not provided any images yet for me to try. I just wondered in advance if there are any tip for doing this or is it select/mask job.

Also i can't find an example. I'm sure you can picture the finished image but i', looking for a similar multiple image to single image combination to use as an example for others.

sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i though manipulation made it fit in this section.

cheers,

dave

Seems to me that you would be looking for something similar to these:

...and masking would be the way to go...:)

that's exactly it thanks..

is there a proper technical term for this kind of thing ? Instead of me stumbling around trying to describe it.

Also i just had a thought, i wonder if my hdr software would do anything acceptable with it..

thanks..

I am going to set up my own test. All i have to do is photograph an still object and move it a number of time.
