Thanks Doug. I fiddled with Bryce 1 a few years back and it was a challanging application but I did make some nice landscapes and quicktime panoramas with it. I've downloaded the free application and the manual for 5.5 (over 500 pages of reading pleasure) and I'll have at it again.

Well the manual is for Bryce 5.5. I downloaded it from CLICK HERE (http://www.daz3d.com/support/files/Bryce_55_AG_SM.pdf)
You may need to register with DAZ3d.com first but click on the Link and see what happens.

Say !! Thanks for the prompt reply Phill and Cameraken. I don't know if I did something wrong but cannot find an exit button and whenever I want to quit the bryce screen have to use the good old alt-ctrl-del combination :?
Have any of you had that problem too ?
Thanks again :wavey:

Photoshop: OK dwld the manual and seems I didn't look in menu; according to the manual have to go to Menu-->quit or Ctrl+q in windows :o: Have fun !!

If you move your cursor to the very top of the screen, the menu bar becomes visible (after a second). You can then exit in the normal way.

Thanks a lot Peter !
I have always loved the phrase in your signature "Sometimes I think my get-up and go just got up and went! " and in this case it is true more than ever, with me "duhh" :dizzy: If you hadn't mention that I would still be closing with alt+ctrl+del  :rainbow:

While you're there, why not pick up a free copy of DAZ|Studio (http://www.daz3d.com/program/studio/1_0index.php) as well.
For those interested in little experimenting in 3D figures and posing it's a good place to start - like Doug said, well worth every penny.

There you'll also find free downloads of (at least) three of the most-widely used 3D characters (Victoria, Michael and Aiko).

If you're wondering if these folks are nuts for giving all this stuff away, here's a quote:
DAZ Productions has a made a committment to keep the DAZ|Studio core application free to the public for as long as possible. In order for this to be possible, DAZ relies on the revenues generated by the purchase of content available in the DAZ online store. The more people that purchase regularly from DAZ, the more development that can be subsidized and the longer the DAZ|Studio core will remain free.
3D world is very content-market orientated, so they give away the tools, and then pick up a slice on the market sales.

Have fun :dizzy:

Wait long enough and expensive software becomes free! Of course, a newer version is always waiting to be purchased...

Speaking of Bryce, here (http://www.plugsnpixels.com/bryce.html) are some examples I created with minimal experience with the app (version 5.5 in this case, which Mac users with Tiger will need to upgrade to for compatibility).

There are several other (http://www.plugsnpixels.com/terraingen.html) options for this sort of work available, including the free (for personal use) Terragen.
