Could anyonel help me with this photo, any advice would be appreciated!


Update: I tried using color balence, the problem I face is the close on the child is blue, back ground blue, and wall blue.

first thing i did was a color balance adjustment layer.
then a contrast/bright adjustment layer.

did a bit of cloning on the background to clean it up.
did a combination of clone and airbrush on the arms. they just seemed too dark for the lighting and the rest of the skin.

ran a black and white points on the whole for better balance

and finally did a 'digital camera noise removal' on medium settings with almost no sharpening.

Welcome to Retouch Pro. First remove the strong red cast. There are many ways to do this, however if you have Photoshop CS or CS2, using the Neutralize option in the Match Color Command will give you a good starting point.
The clone tool can quickly brush over the dark border make it the same tone as the rest of the background. A small brush set to color mode can put a little more color back into the eyes. A small amount of Smart Sharpen on the whole image to crisp it up alittle.

This is my attempt. Bit pushed for time at the moment, if you need details let me know.

Well I did not crop the darkened edges but cloned in the adjacent color. I switched to lab mode and used curves. I selected the white color of the baby's sock, but bringing that to white turned the photo to a bluish cast so I backed off some.

Cloned out the dark edges
Neat Image
Layers to paint and repair the colours
Sharpened selectively

Love your version Ken. You've made it pop nicely and I like the skin tones. I also like your choice of carpet colour. It provides a nice contrast. If I had to be nitpicky I would say, in my humble opinion, that there might perhaps be a tad too much Neat Image. It is noticeable in the loss of some texture in the carpet and on some of the edges. But otherwise excellent.

Here is my take on it. I am really fond of using Selective Color Layers. The changes are much more subtle than say with Color Balance and it allows for much finer control. Often I will just tone down say the black in the reds or add more cyan if there is too much magenta etc. Other than that I didn't do anything revolutionary. I coloured the skin on the face with a a low opacity brush (25%) with the blend mode set to color. I darkened the hair a bit, cloned out the dark frame where and also applied Neat Image and used both Unsharp Mask and High Pass.

i had another go at this. cloned out the border marks and smoothed up the background more. added a histogram adjust. did some more color balancing and a few other small tweaks.

Here is what I did
I added a levels adjustment layer and used these numbers
Red 100 0.94 255
Green 16 0.87 227
Blue 7 0.61 186

This should mainly put things right. It just leaves a yellow cast on the skin

I added a Hue/Sat Adjustment layer and used these numbers
Yellows Sat -100 Lightness +50
Reds Lightness +22

That’s about it for the corrections

From there I added layers to paint (set to color)
I painted the background blue the fur fawn and added a little yellow to the dress.

I used Neat Image to clean up (A little too much as Syd has already mentioned)
And Sharpened
