Much of what is going on in these photos appears to be good staging of the shot. Personally, I don't find much of it appealing. Well executed technically, but not my taste in regards to subject matter.

Yes, as a mother myself, find these images somewhat depressing to say the least, whilst the artwork is haunting, is a nightmare to a mother who only wants the best for her child/ren, strikes a raw chord with me, but not a simple minor, which has promise as well as the dark contrast. Yes lighting has amazing qualities, sort of like punctuation in music

There are a lot of techniques in the photos... do you like a certain one (or ones)? A lot of it is how the photo was set up.

yes the first few photos are somewhat whistful, whilst following down they become downright depressing if not verging on bizzare and disturbing. I chose to ignore some of the commentary

Basically, textures are placed over the image. Experiment with blending modes to achieve the look you want. Adjust opacity and/or use masks to control the effect. Tweak the colors to taste. Darken the image using any of several techniques. Curves/levels, burning/dodging, painting with black or dark colors in overlay or color burn mode, etc. Sometimes replacing the background will give a very different look. If you need more specifics, let me know : )

Theres a hell of a lot of images there (also should mention, some nudity)
I think looking at the thumbnails a lot of the pictures look fantastic - theres great potential there and fantastic ideas but when you go into the full image, its poorly executed (or thats my opinion, it may be intended that way) the young girl is very poorly masked into the backgrounds, which spoils it for me
A lot of the pictures have enhanced green/yellow/orange/brown tones, they're very grungy shades. The trick is ofcourse, getting them just right.

It looks a bit like the Dragan effect.

To get the feelign about horror, it's not enough to know the Photoshop work! you need to have the location, the setting, the facila expressions, the works! Everything should be 100% or else it falls trough! These pictures arenæt very good in the horror mode, more like in the sad and drpessed place!

The Photoshop works isn't difiicult, but it is very repeative :)

Dodging and burning, apllying fill colour and making colour filters, masking, the some more masking...Maybe my methods isn't the same...
