Try this on Photoshop....

Curves, options, enhance per channel contrast.

It'll do the color correction quickly.

Hope this worked for u.

Another way is to simply do a levels adjustment layer (via Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Levels). I used the sleeve of the bride's dress for the white point and the lower left black of the groom's tux for the black point.

You might want to run a highpass on this afterwards to see if you can get more detail back, though I suppose you're working on a bigger copy and have more detail available already. :)

Like others, levels and curves using the eye dropper to define black and white.

The photo is very small and has a LOT of noise. If you have the original at higher resolution, you'll get much better results.

After use of curves or levels to extract whatever detail is left, the remaining noise, some of which is jpg over-compression, is somewhat overpowering. You can do a lot better with a higher quality scan and higher resolution starting image.

Hi there

Same as all the good folks above. I did add a little color here and there with color and soft light layers but i think I lost a little needed detail in the process. I also used a little too much contrast...but thats my middle name. :D

Thank you all for the wonderful results. I tried the easiest route which was the way santajauna suggested and it worked very nicely. Will try the other suggestions as well. I posted another one but this time it is one with a shadow on his face. Thanks all!! I sincerely appreciate all of your work and help!! Neb :rainbow:

Neb...
Not all pictures have the same problem. Sometimes you have to approach it differently.

I did levels, using the top right strap of her dress as the white point and the guys dark waistline area for black. That did a pretty good job, but I also let PhotoShop think about it by applying an Auto Color and that cleaned my adjustments up even more.

Curves to bring up the blacks and midtones. Sharpen some.

Hi Nebgranny, try using this...

Curves, options, enhance per channel contrast. Then dont leave curves put this numbers on each channel after making a click on the curve:

RGB input:134
RBG output:139
red input:182
red output:95
green in:137
green out:119
blue in:117
blue out:161

Now you can click OK.

Add a PhotoFilter... Image, adjusments, photofilter, cyan, density 25% and be sure that preserve luminosity is checked.

That'll give you this result.

Hope it'll work.

Hugs,

Silvia.

I just used levels to start; like swampy. White on the bright part of her dress, the black eyedropper on his tie, the gray dropper on a darker part of the dress.

Nice job everyone. Swampy where is the auto color function? I am learning each picture has a life of it's own darn...wish there were a universal fix for each photo would make things easier to learn!!

santajuana, I have never ever used channels before , this looks a little complicated to me but results are really nice.

Thanks Phil looks good as well. You are all so talented!! Please know I appreciate all of your help.

Hi nebgranny,
Used the Enhance Per Channel method with this and Shadow/Highlights to bring out the detail in the shadows. Also did a Reduce Noise as well as a selective sharpen to bring back some detail. Then added a subtle gradient to bring back some of the blown-out sky.

adjusting levels and contrast then added some photo filter layers.

Swampy where is the auto color function?

In the drop down menu Image->Adjustments-Auto Color.

Hi,

Neb,

... another quick and easy way to minimize the yellow cast:

Go to Image > Adjustments > Variations (Attachment 1)

In the 'Variations' window (Attachment 2) click on the thumbnails right above:

More Blue
More Cyan
More Cyan (again)
Darker
Darker (again)

Click OK to exit the 'Variations' window.

(Attachment 3) = The B&A after this procedure.

Pretty much what everyone else has done. I started with a curves adjustment layer using a white and black point(as defined in a threshold layer). Ran a very light Neat Image, painted skin with softlight skin tone, added a neutral gray layer and lightened and darkened area by painting with white and black. Bride's nose needs some work - but really need a higher res image to achieve better results.
