Hi, not really sure if anybody can help me, but here is my question. A friend of mine at work wants to sell the family computer. His girls are grown and out of the house now, and he doesnt use it. He said it was a 5000 once, and then he said 5L39. He really doesnt know. What would this be, and what would it be worth? Liker I said, I dont have much information, so Im not sure if anyone can help me. I am a windows man, but I have heard so much about mac computers, that I thought it might be worth looking into. Sounds like one of the early PowerMacs that came out around the mid 1990s and roughly equivelent to windows pcs at that time (first pentium systems 100mhz) I am unsure of that specific model though... if it still works it may be of interest to a geeky collector perhaps.

I've had macs since 1986 and have never heard of 5L39. I would try to find out what model it is for sure.

Thanks for the link. He said it was probably 4 or 5 yaers old, but that I should come and look at it. I will look at it tommorrow, if he is going to be home. I will let you know what I find out.

4-5 years old should be a powermac g4....probably between 300-500mhz im assuming. Might be a good deal to pick it up. I recently picked up a powermac g4 DP 450 that screamed along just fine. 5l39 sounds like the start or the serial number or something...yeah, let us know please

Well, it was to good to be true. He said he would sell it for 225.00 and there was another computer to go with it. They were both compaq computers. The best one had windows millenium ME
