I was noodling with a stock photo and thought it might be a fun exercise to see if anyone can deconstruct and replicate what I came up with.

Got to be a member of Stock-xchng to download the original Doug, some may not wish to become members there.

I blurred it a little much and used various inversions and desaturations and masks. An intersting idea I might add.

hmm my login is apparently lost and I don't like the current agreement for re-signing up, especially the bit about costs and billing, insufficient details

You mean this bit?
"You authorize SXC to be your non-exclusive agent that licenses Images FOR FREE...SXC agrees not to sell these Images under any circumstances and not to distribute them outside the Website...under no circumstances can you demand money from SXC or those using the Images for the use of said Images"

With thanks Doug, at this time of night, I only cursorily read, don't recall that bit only that they needed address etc details for billing purposes, will re-read tomorrow in daylight.
Photoshop I'm not that tight, just having to watch every penny precariously atm

I guess this mystery wasn't as suspenseful as I'd hoped :)
Here's my layer stack.
Feel free to start your own thread with another episode of...Retouching Detective (cue organ music).

Everyone feel free to start your own Retouching Detective threads (change the title a little, just to keep them all distinct).
And once you've solved the "mystery", post your own retouched interpretations of the base image.

Maybe a photo detective thread? or do I mean category?
Doug Nelson

If this catches on we can give it a category, but right now it looks like only a handful of people are interested.

I am stunned that more have not pursued this thread, the chase is exhillarating and stretching

Even if no one else dons the retouching deerstalker, you just made my day :)
