Hi, I'm new to the site and what a great site it is too! So much professional advice.

I'd like some help with this image.
I would like to cover the bare area of pavement and the tree with some more snow.
What do you think would be the best cloning technque to use?

Cloning may or may not be your best solution here. But in this case I'd use patch or even just copy a section and paste it onto a new layer and maneuver it into place (use a bit of a feather and irregular outlines for cleanest blends).

And use "manage attachments" (a little lower down on the page when you post or reply) to attach images.

Your pictue has a lot of pattern area (bricks around the tree base etc). Here's what I did.

1. Marquee select an area and copy it to a new layer (Command/Control J)
2. Transform the copy. I did a reflection of it by dragging the top center "handle" down and through the bottom center "handle" and stretched it as far as I needed. Then hold down the control key so you can free Transform the reflection and skew it a little.
3. I used the patch tool and did some slight cloning to remove some of the repeated areas that were obvious.

Do the same to the other side and clean up as necessary.

Added new layer, filled with white. added noise - (gaussian\mono).
masked out top portion of pic, blurred mask to taste.
Set blend mode to colour dodge and set opacity to approx 50%.

Works for me hope it does for you
