Well here is another one I need some advice on..Please you do not have to do it ..just give me direction to try myself, Examples are fine though.

I am using this photo as the bg picture for a collage. I just scanned it and here is what it looks like? The texture came through ..It is from a high school year book . It does not look like this in the book ?? Any advice appreciated!! Thanks Neb

oh my..it does not show the texture ...I guess that is because I used the deform tool in psp9 to enlarge it ..it does not deform the photo but it does make it bigger and it shows all the dots or squares. I took it through neat image ..not to good with settings with it ..but it took out all the detail in the bricks of the building!! Neb

Try taking the original scan and adding a small amount of gaussian blur i used your posted image and tried it with a 0.7 setting and it smoothed out the texture and its not really to blurred.

Hi Neb,
One application of Noiseware at the default settings should eliminate the texture. It will look much better on a high res image. You can also apply a small amount of sharpening afterward although I did not on this image because you saved it on high compression and it is very pixelated.

I used Neat Image to decrease the texture and a dab of levels to slightly increase the contrast. If I had the fft filter and knew how to use it I probably would have used it here.

If you are scanning for a collage its a good idea to use a lossless format like photoshop or tiff to prevent the formation of artifacts as you proceed.

Not a problem nebgranny, i read the reply this morning and didnt even notice the typo. I have had the name butchered up worse than that before so dont worry about it. Glad i could be of some help.

I used Neat Image & Focus Magic

I used Neat Image with the default setting to create a filtered copy. Then loaded the original and the filtered copy into Photoshop. Put the filtered copy on top of the original. Added layer mask (reveal all) to the filtered copy and painted with black on the mask to hide the brick on the large building. This retains the brick texture of the original.

If your problem is paper texture, try turning on Descreening filter when you scan. My scanner (Epson 4990) has 4 setting. They are General, Newspaper, Magazine, and FinePrints.
