Wonderful shots, Pavel! I am amazed at the photographers among us who manage to frame such wonderful shots from mundane things.

I ran my "minumum" line art routine then used the blur and sponge tools to tone down the background barn. Used the sharpen tool to add detail to the foreground barn. Texture, frame.

Swampy, thank you :blush: . To me photography is not necessarily about shooting spectacular sunsets and mountain views . It is more about creating certain mood. In fact one of my favorite shots is that of an old tin can.

Nice job everyone, and they were lovely pictures to start with. Looks nothing like the "tree farms" (used very loosely) here in the desert, grumbling in jealousy.

I'm pretty new to the smudge technique so I thought I'd try it out on this picture.

Old trucks.....ain't nothing like 'em. Didn't a guy by the name of Tom T. Hall have a song or two about this?

i like that. you've taken all the 'grunge' out of the picture and left the essentials in a nice way. j

ust one suggestion here; maybe add some highlights or brightening here and there. maybe a little in the trees and some on the front of the truck... especially the truck to bring it out a bit more.

Yes ahb Is Art History Brush A great tool and if you havent already tried it give it a whirl

and No i tend to use trimoons brushes this one was the art spatter 15a which i downloaded from somewhere here, but try out the custom brushes especially the geometric shapes you can get some great results from them

Kerry nice smudge getting on very well with that technique, i too keep trying out pwl hoping it will click into place better soon :lol: ( along with dodge and burn, colour correcting etc etc etc )

Love that Junkyard truck!

Some color adjustments, PWL, sponge filter. Border created with spatter filter in QM mode. Line Art with curves and levels tweak. Texture.

You folks have done some wonderful versions. I'd expect Craig to add the junkyard dog.. Come on, Craig. Don't disappoint me.. LOL

Just one more shot at the great old truck photo. (Figuratively speaking, of course.)

I used Swampy's line art effect reduced opacity applied exclusion blend mode adjusted levels then added Xero Lithograph and AutoFX MTTC soft posterize. Oh and I used a gradient layer.

Way Kool, JimJam. I'm so glad to see you taking the basic sketch effect and expanding on it. :-)

Tom T. Hall was very popular in the U.S. a few years back. Wrote and recorded songs which told stories. One of my favorites was one he called "I Love."

Well I just watched one of those online tutes for comic art, brilliant, I'll give that a go I thought. I got as far as Dupe the image and forgot the rest. (new brain needed).
So I winged it, made it up as I went along, I think its not too bad, maybe not the best but I do try (I am very trying I'm told).

Swampy, I hope that the farm owners do not know about RetouchPRO forum. Lady of the house was not too happy with me taking pictures to begin with...she sort of relented then her husband said OK. If they do read about "junkyard", they may sue me. The place I think used to be a regular farm, at some point owners probably decided that growng X-Mas trees is easier.

I didn't mean to offend, Pavel. "Junkyard dog" is kind of a southern thing. Most farms in the south have a dog or two of the cur variety and are often referred to in those terms. You'd almost expect to see one in one of your photos and not of the registered "fu-fu" breeds. LOL

No offence at all, I was just trying to make a joke, my apologies if I sounded too serious. Tell the truth, the place did look a bit like ... you know... :wink: I did my best to keep the junk out of picture frame when I was taking shots...still...
Now I know what "junkyard dog" means. English is not my first language... I keep learning...
