This picture reminded me of Edward Hopper. So I tried to emulate the feel of his work.I used PS7 and virtual painter impasto.

Issy,
Terrific rendition. A larger size pic would be great ...details are a bit hard to see.

Very very quick one, increased the size, messed with levels, used simplifier.
Going to bed soon. Good night.

Tooks some liberties and fractally (thanks to Image Analyzer) resized it for those who still want to play. Also, I did play myself (resized it again {trust me, you wouldn't like the second resize}, downsized it a bit and ran Flaming Pear's Pixel trash (blended it with the resized version) and Warp Sharp Script-fu for this one. :)

Used Ikroll's LK Mosaic plug-in for Impressionist with color background in Darken blend mode. Very nice plug-ins Ikroll. Nice picture and nice work on it Izzy.

Thanks JimJam. Yes, Impressionist is powerful, but this java applet is the best that I've seen for an all simulated mosaic interface. Already posted the link on other threads, but if you haven't already done so, here (http://www.dmi.unict.it/~gdiblasi/mosaic/mosaic.html)'s the link. Attached is a sample. I did bumpmap to give the tiles some depth. :)

Had a go at this one tonight.

Steps taken:

1. Opened image.
2. Duplicated layer and used the smudge tool on the top layer. At this point I applied Edge Effects/Enhance twice.
3. Next I went back to the background layer and applied emboss.
4. Went to top layer and changed blind mode to Hard Light then duplicated
5. Changed this Layer blind mode to Soft Light and duplicated.
6. Changed this layer blind mode to Lighten and adjusted all three top layer till I liked the look.
7. Merged visible and applied black pencial effect.
8. Flattened all layers and added border then saved for web.

All effects done using Paint Shop Pro v8 no other plugins.

Hope ya'll enjoy,

Thanks Peter, Photoart is not one of my strengths, so any encouragement is greatly appreciated.

This photo gives me a chance to play with some streaming light. :-)

Filled a vertical rectangle with white to transparent blend from both left and right sides of the rectangle. Added some inner and outer glows. Set to Soft Light blend mode. Free Transform -Distort to rotate and place the light streams. Added a little film grain.

Copied a selection of the two foreground figures to a new layer and masked out around their edges (where they would be blocking the light stream.

HSL Adjustment layer to the original to pump up the color a tad.

I especially liked Alan's Art History Brush (AHB) interpretation above. Once again he inspired me to experiment a bit more with it...

Rough workflow:
* Multiple layers of AHB strokes using different brush styles, e.g., Spatter, Chalk, Dry Brush, Rolled Terry towel, etc.,
* Tried different brush diameters (3-8 for detail, 20-40 for large/fill-in areas), Daub and Tight Short
* Brushes Palette: Hue and Brightness jitter setting tweaks yielded some interesting results.
* Merged visible, sharpened, painted some more, sharpened some more -- you get the idea.
* To get some edge detail: Applied Smart Blur > Edge Only to a copy of BG. Image > Adjustments > Invert. Applied Stylize > Diffuse > Anisotropic to soften edges a bit. Added Hide All layer mask and airbrushed with white to reveal some edge detail.

*GREAT* pic to work with. :)
