My decisions were based largely on how vector-y these looked. Some really did look like a filter was used instead of actually drawing the shapes- too many jagged edges and even some stippled shading. But some very good entries overall- interesting to see everyone take things in an unfamiliar direction and venture into illustration.

1. Splata- Really nice! Stylish, graphic image with nice skin transitions and plenty of detail. Very nice color selection, and that was the hardest part in my opinion. Only thing I'd change is the black outline of the lips. Loved this one.

2. Cyber-cat- Another great illustration. Love the eyes, very expressive and believable. Nice movement in overall composition. Might have changed the outline under the nose.

3. Cazubi- Nice detail, nice color choices.

4. Doug Colwell- Loved the different look created by different color choices; sort of an "arctic" feel. Nice definition in face and shirt. Middle tone in face seems a little too cool/gray-blue, a little distracting.

5. Luciachan- Captured the facial expression and pattern of the jacket nicely. Solid lines (as opposed to filled shapes) are somewhat distracting.

I really am a 'Non-Expert' in this area... but here are my votes! :)

1 - Lilsip. Really captured the feel of the picture.. Loved the facial shading and tousled hair.
2 - Splata. Good colour choices
3 - WoodenBender. I liked the clean lines and simplicity of this one
4 - Luciachan. Again, good colour choices and expression.
5 - CyberCat. Facial expression captured well

I interpreted drawn lines as being a bit outside the guidelines of using selection tools and I felt that the fixed width lines didn't fit well with the freeform shapes. Also
noticed the jpeg's did result in many extra colours as TPaul had warned (although many of the gif's (mine too) had extra colours at the edges).

1. Lilsip - I thought this one best represented the suggested technique, and while the face shadings may be a little complicated/contrasty they do echo the camouflague theme nicely.
2. Splata - I really like the colour scheme, and the face shadings are simple and natural looking - upper lip line looks odd.
3. Cyber cat - Very nice shapes and shadows - drawn nose and forehead lines need variation.
4. Luchiachan - Great facial tones and expression - drawn face and hair lines need variation.
5. Wooden bender - I like the stylized design look - drawn face and hair lines need variation.

A lot of great entries from everyone. I was looking for something that looked as if it were achieved without the use of filters. I was so impressed by my top 5's ability to produce so much detail in their entries despite the limited colors we were allowed to use.

1. lilsip
2. luciachan
3. cyber_cat
4. cazubi
5. dcolwell

Congrats to the winner, whomever he or she is.
