I have been trying for some time now to figure out how this guy does this certain look on his fasion shots..... I love the processing on them but cant figure out what it is or how its done.....

Any one have any ideas?

First thing I note is he has desaturated most of his shots. Probably done some dodging and burning or set a color overlay and reduced that with a mask.

I think the results are very close to what you want and only require a little tweaking.

I got it to look like this using the previous technique, not quite right but sure a step in the right direction I think......

I think it's a great try. You may want to get your mask a little more tight around your main subject though.

Actually, scooter, I like the image you did better than the guy's work you were trying to emulate. His pictures all seem too murky with that effect. He should be doing vampire fashion or perhaps coal miner equipment photos.

Used my Illustrated Look and then a Hue/Sat. adjustment layer/Colorize to match the first sample and used the mask to bring back some color.

burned the area around the dude! made 5layers, one with desaturated softlight and one color...adjusted the opacity trough the colour to make the picture less colorful(good english...i knwo)

One approach that you see a lot is to desaturate reds and push the three-quarter tones towareds blue. There is usually increased contrast as well, but a reading of the lower ranges shows that everything at the lightest end has been compressed upwards, giving things a darker, somber look. It's not enough to push the dark end of the curve as you want to retain shadow detail. Here's a shot at the original posted here:

could also be HDR do a search for that on google. you take about six exposures of one image and merge to HDR in photoshop.
