IMO now that you have dropped back the colour saturation and tone, the image looks a bit flat. Some more contrast etc to acheive depth and texture, especially in the man's face would make a great difference. mistermonday 02-10-2007, 08:48 PM Nice effect, Gerry. I left a little more color but gave him a slightly more weathered look. Regards, Murray Kraellin 02-12-2007, 02:40 PM yup, this is always interesting. the 'dragan' look does this quite dramatically. there are some good dodge and burn ones and paint with light ones also. superkoax, would you mind if i used this image on another site, specifically the filterforge.com site? i'm making filters there and one of the filters i'm currently working on is a portrait and luminosity masking filter. your picture here is a good one to practice one and sometimes i like to display my results over there. here's an example of one: LonK 02-13-2007, 01:05 PM Like Craig said, this portrait is a perfect candidate for the Dragan effect. Shadd 02-13-2007, 01:38 PM Hi Folks, I’ve just found your site and finding it fascinating. I really like the “Dragan effect” how do you achieve that and can I download a h-res image to give my option on it?. Ralph superkoax 02-13-2007, 01:47 PM my dragan take on it.... superkoax 02-13-2007, 03:57 PM one more... superkoax 02-13-2007, 04:02 PM another one...added contrast and abit of warmth to it! Gerry skydog 02-13-2007, 09:05 PM nice Gerry.... JimmyMJB2 02-15-2007, 03:26 AM Ralph, The Dragan Effect that they are referring to is a technique of manipulating a portrait to achieve a look similar to the work done by Andrzej Dragan. Here’s his site: http://andrzejdragan.com/ I don’t know how everyone here is going about achieving their particular results, but I have found some stuff that might be helpful. There is this 10 step tutorial that claims to do the trick (I personally don’t think that they got the Dragan look): http://www.mutantsoup.com/10steps.zip There is also an Action that you can download, but I have my doubts about it and never bothered with it. The best thing I have found is this video tutorial: http://www.savefile.com/files/60502 Hope that helps. Shadd 02-15-2007, 02:01 PM Many thanks for the link Jimmy. Ralph Littlecoo 02-15-2007, 06:53 PM I love your image Gerry, I just had to try my hand at it. In keeping with the style you are working to acheive, I just used a combo of layer blending modes and some masking as shown in the screenshot of my layer pallette. superkoax 02-16-2007, 01:32 PM littlecoo: very nice one! sent you a message! Gerry lxgalang 02-17-2007, 12:56 AM Not sure how the dragan effect is done but here is my try at it.
