I thought this was such a great pose I had to post it for others to have a go at it.
I'm still messing with Art History here, I hope I'm not boring people.
Tried to give it an unfinished look.

Peter you have done it again another great photo for us I get the impression you are getting to like the ahb?
I have posted a ahb but using a different brush ( Photoshop Square brush) have you tried experimenting with different ones yet ?

Palms

Like both of them.

Answers to questions - yes and yes. i downloaded the brush set from creative pro, it was a link Danny posted, but still getting to grips on just how to use really.
Had great trouble getting the AHB to work, I kept pointing the history at the wrong place (didn't realise to use merged history DUH).
But I'm getting there slowly.

BTW can someone correct my spelling mistake in the title of this thread - it won't let me. and its annoying

Didn't correct the title spelling, because I thought "Gerat" might be a great photographer I had not heard of. :dizzy:

Okay Peter - we all know you were just testing our speling.
Great pic - here is a Photoshop/Painter version. Buzzed first in Photoshop then used acrylics in Painter.

This time, the renderings not what I'm wanting feedback on; the rendering was primarily created using Vabirdy's (Mark's) Landscape Painter Script-fu for those who are curious. What I would like is feedback on the canvas texture. I created it using GIMP's Mosaic filter. I believe the dimples comes close to match that of artistic canvas, expecially shows up with the watecolor rendering, but that's just my opinion. You really see it the best when viewing the complete rendering (http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/4494/greatposede8.jpg). Attached is an attempt at a Venusean crop. :)

Hi Peter....You found another lovely photo...Thanks...
Like what you have done with the AHB...a real painted look!!!

Palms...Brilliant job...they are both extremely good!!!
Steve...Like your illustrated look...good one!
Lasa....Nice imaginative crop...
Margaret...Yours is a lovely and soft version...well done with Painter!
Zganie...Like the soft glow treatment...nice color..
Craig...I love the look of luminance...a very nice pic!!
Pavel...Drastic worked well...looks hand painted!
Sylvia...Great smudging ...I do like the look it gives...
Lyle...I do like your texture on this one...in fact the whole painting is brill.

I have done mine in Painter with the oil brushes...framed with an action in Photoshop...

Patricia... :classic:

Here's my version 2 - all Photoshop. Used charcoal and pastel in the Art History brushes; applied Photoshop native rough pastels filter and faded; levels and curves etc.
Lyle - I like your texture. I think that maybe canvas is a little more regular - maybe more horizontal and vertical, but your texture certainly looks fabric based - nice.
Patricia Kay - nice going in Painter.

Alex, gerat er sorry, GREAT work.
I've tried Chalk and Charcoal a few times and never got too far - THAT is what I was trying to do.

My effort: painted in Painter and Photoshop'ed in Photoshop.

Palms, Rô Thank you.

Palms that is the default PSCS brush sets.

Rô, that IS fantastic work you did. Splendid brushes.
By the way, thank you for your very interesting and useful tutorial about Gaussian Blur and the High-Pass Filter (http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/?m=show&id=147). I read it with great pleasure.

Great image to work with and very nice work everyone.

Here are my two tries at this one (I probably could have done a dozen different variations - this was a great image).

First Image:

Smudged, duped, Screen blended @35%, Flattened, selectively dodged and sharpened.

Second Image:

Ran it through my Chalk Sketch action, cropped, minor smudging to soften hard lines, lightly textured.

I love Button pushing and there are so many!
I just discovered if you use the despeckle button after fixing skin tones and blotches it smooths the skin out beautifully - ok you probably all know this but I feel like Captain Cook;)

... I feel like Captain Cook;)

You have many more exciting discoveries awaiting you, Captain!! :) :wavey:

I think most of us are still happily surprised by some combination of filters or layer blends or adjustments we haven't tried before -- or have forgotten. That's part of the fun.

This is such a great portrait to start with I don't think it needs much work IMHO, but here is my take. Just ran it through a cross processing action that I have created, duped the backgroung layer and ran this through the Diffuse Glow filter and set the blend mode to lighten and opacity to about 40%.

Fitz i agree great image to work on, and i like both of your post's more so the chalk one

Cimarron C.J. is right loads to find out about and remind us about cause i for one do tend to forget, i do right notes down but usualy so that i need a decoder to read them

C.J. they are different in a nice way

DWThomp another nice one to add to the growing collection

Phil you can edit your posts here so if like me you forget to add your photo you can go back and add it, or check your spelling  I like the way you have enchanced the colours within the photo

Hats off to all of you. There are some exceptional interpretations on this one.

----------

On this one I used...
* Impressionist
* Snap Art
* Redfield++ (bas relief)
... plus some smudging, sharpening and cloning.

I quite agree, Danny! One of those exceptional interpretations is yours -- your painting practice/experience has really paid off.
