Does anyone know how to add realistic flames to the end of the sword in this picture. I have seen many pictures with flames coming from a basketball or baseball and have often wondered how it is done. I was thinking of adding it to this picture.
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Wendy

Hey thats interesting. I googled photoshop fire and came up with a tutorial located CLICK HERE (http://www.think-designs.com/tutorials.php?subaction=showfull&id=1086047054&archive=&start_from=&ucat=3&) . At any rate you start out with default black and white colors and use the render clouds filter followed by the Polar coordinates (Polar to Rectangular) filter to get the vertical type lines. Increase the contrast and add an HSL adjustment layer. Oh well.

Well, I don't use Photoshop, I use Corel's Photopaint... but as others have mentioned, there are brushes out there for this. Some apps may call them tubes, some may call them spraylists.
In PP, it's a spraylist of flames - I just put them down on a new layer and then used a layer mask a bit to get some varying transparencies on the blades.

How do you get the color? I got the brushes, but am not familiar with how to obtain the correct color to look like real flames.
Thanks

you guys should make the tips of your swords a little reddish-orange, if the sword tip was on fire, doubt it would be a cool gray!

That's just the color it was - I did no color change.
You can simply use the fire from another picture...
