I was just wondering if anyone has a tried and true method for fixing blotchy skin.

I came up with my own method based on what I've gathered from looking at the dodge-n-burn threads but was curious if anyone had any input or tips here :)

Try this:

1. Add a Channel Mix layer - The blotches are mostly in the green layer. In the green layer, take green down to 0% and blue to 100%. Mask out just the arm.

2. Clip a Hue/Saturation over that layer and Colorize - Use the controls to match the existing skin color of the neck and chest.

I've also overlayed some freckles to help blend those areas more realistically. Let me know what you think.

I like yours alot! I made a hue/sat adjustment layer with -10 hue to make it pinker and then masked out that layer and painted in the yellow blotches, using a curves layer on top to increase the contrast so I could pick out the spots better - it was overly time consuming IMO and wouldn't really be able to do that without my tablet. I had looked at the channels and noticed that the problem was mainly in one channel, tried something with the channels that I didn't like and abandoned the idea of using channels to fix it.

Your method is faster and looks better! Very nice :)
In my channel mixer layer, for the green channel I used 28 red and 70 blue and got the color of the skin to match without using an extra layer.

Actually, for this image masking is not really necessary. Just substitute the blue channel for the green channel as suggested above.

Another easy way to correct the color is to use the Image=>Adjustments=>MatchColor. Set the source as the current file and select the Layer as the background layer.
