Hi fellow retouchers,

Today was my first day at a new job scanning and retouching abstract fine artwork created by different artists, mostly using very vivid colors. We use these images to create postcards, greeting cards and posters.

I need to learn more about retouching these type of images. If anyone has any tips on making my job go more efficiently, any good books to read, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you all in advance.

Best Regards,

Abraham

Dealing with fine art is a fine art in and of itself. You have a responsibility to render the artist's work as faithfully as possible. Colors are important and color calibration is a must.

You didn't say what the output method was going to be. Wide format glicee? Four color process printing? It is important that you obtain the ICC profiles from the printer and work in their color space.
