The town of Apache Junction sponsors a yearly event called "Lost Dutchman Days" with a parade, rodeo, bazaar, wild horse/burro adoption. The town lies just west of the Superstition Mountains, home of the fabled Lost Dutchman gold mine.

I'll post a few and hope that you find one you fancy to play with...

Here's the color guard, last year's Rodeo Queen, and a male rider...; oh and every horse parade needs some scoopers... :)

Xero's Caravaggio filter with manipulations including GIMP's Retinex filter (erased through some of the halos). :)

Caravaggio is one of my favorite looks -- very cool!

:lmao:

Anyway, first I have to say that I really like Caravagio too; don't use it as often as I use to. That said, this one wasn't a Caravagio. I did Retinex enhancements and vector simplication with some Despeckleing for this rendering. Did some Mr. Contrast and final dup Overlay for enhanced contrast. :)

Ooops! I remember the NAME Caravagio -- obviously, I don't remember the LOOK. :)

I worked on the male rider -- did some color range selections, added a bas-relief layer, etc.

Worked on the color guard to emphasize the colors

Nice pics CJ - though I think I'll give the pooper scoopers a miss this time.
Art history from me.

Here's the miner's burro. I cropped and tried to blur the background distractions enough to make it easier to concentrate on the burro and his handler.

I did a modified sketch with dark strokes and layer blends.

Excellent, Palms! Not only a nice composit job, but the painterly style is lovely too.

Sometimes you just have to do serious stuff.

God bless those who protect our freedoms.
