I'm looking for scanner recommendations. I will be scanning lots of 8x10" prints and glass negatives (no 35mm). I seem to be down to the Epson 4990 and v700. Has anyone actually used the v700? Also, is there any other machine (below $600) that anyone would recommend? Thanks for your time.

If you can get the 4990 for $309 still from Epson refur'b (includes shipping), I would go with that. If you have to buy new, you can usually find a 4990 vs. V700 online for about $50 difference. I would go with the V700 then. Canon also makes the 9950F.
