View Full Version : Creative interpretations: Snow Bound Buddies Swampy 02-28-2007, 01:33 PM This picture was given to me by a good friend and he gave me permission to post it here for you to play with. The local paper had printed it in a feature they do on photography. It struck me as such a great shot.

Have fun Janet Petty 02-28-2007, 08:24 PM Even though the quality of this photo is very poor, the story it tells and the emotions it invokes are priceless. Thank you for sharing this Swampy.
Janet Kraellin 02-28-2007, 09:16 PM it's interesting, isnt it. this photo violates a number of 'rules' of photography, but it keeps the main one intact and that one outweighs all the rest, so it works. nice pic :) Swampy 03-01-2007, 06:12 AM I have posted the original Photo (#2) in the first message that you may find more suitable to work on. palms1 03-01-2007, 06:51 AM Swampy i agree with you lovely shot, and i bet they had a look of glee on there faces !
used the ahb brush skydog 03-01-2007, 07:10 AM Since I've got Painter 10 for a free 30 day trial (now 24), I thought I'd use it again. On this one I used levels on the original, added a vinette (not sure if I spelled that correctly) and a little sharpening. Then I brought it into painter and used the auto paint mode until I got the look I liked. palms1 03-01-2007, 09:14 AM Ok i have given a try at being a bit more creative :D
Palms Alcar 03-01-2007, 11:42 AM Skydog...nice work with Painter X. Is the auto paint mode much different from Painter IX?
Alan dkcoats 03-01-2007, 11:43 AM Where's Norman Rockwell when you need him?
Retouching in Photoshop CS2, Twisted Brush watercolor cloner, texture in Photoshop. Swampy 03-01-2007, 12:20 PM Palms #1: Nice, I like the way you captured the detail in the dog's face. I had a hard time with that.
Skydog: I'm not sure about the brush strokes on the edges. A little harsh or abstract for my taste in this particular photo, but I love the detail you caught in the bby, dog and cat. Must have been the sharpening you did.
Palms#2: Well framed! It really removes the clutter on the left side of the photo. And the out of bounds technique adds a lot of depth. I like it.
DC: Where is Rockwell indeed! Great color and an excellent job of pushing those pixels around.
Here's my water color. Done with the history brush (chalk, spatter, etc) from different history states. slidefoot 03-05-2007, 10:16 AM Super professional - The photograph is truly worth a thousand words... I did another one, kind of watercolor look...
I did it starting with my pattern stamp tool one, did an overlay sketch, and applied some dodge and burn stuff...
Sylvia lkroll 03-11-2007, 06:04 PM Precious moment for sure Swampy. Thought of doing a Rockwell, but the image was way too small for me, so I did this simple WC using Amphisoft's Simplifier and Paint Engine with @Wette2 preset. :) Swampy 03-11-2007, 07:05 PM Oh, Ikroll, that is just lovely. Soft texture, is very effective. |
