Tonight's lunar eclipse as seen over Westminster Abbey -- by the Associated Press (it was only a partial eclipse in AZ, USA, and I read that Europe got the best show).

We got almost a total eclipse (a very small bit near the top didn't get covered).

Needless to say I didn't have my camera with me, I was walking the dogs at about 10.30 pm and I'd forgotten all about the eclipse. By the time I got home the main shadow had faded, and I was left with the type of shadow shown in your pic.

What was amazing was that the sky was clear. Normally when there's anything interesting astronomically it's cloudy over here and you can't see it.

We had a good view of it, and like Gary said it was a clear night, and i hadnt sorted my camera out either . I didnt stay outdoors for the whole event but i did keep popping in and out, and it seemed to change colour everytime i looked and i am sure at one stage it gave of a greeny blue colour, well i am claiming it did so that i can say i have seen "Once in a blue moon "

My nephew took a few photo's will ask for his permission to post them

Permission has been granted by my nephew to post these that he had taken ( about 40 in all apparently) Sorry dont know what camera he used, I wish now i had got my camera out
I asked him if he had seen the blue/green colour and his answer was that i would of seen the colours as the moon is made out of stilton cheese. good job he is old enough for me not to get into trouble when i clout him one
