Steve C. Steve Conway 03-14-2007, 12:38 PM Cropped version.
Steve C. palms1 03-14-2007, 03:07 PM gone for the moody look
Palms Peter S 03-14-2007, 05:42 PM Steve I like the cropped one the best.
Palms I do believe you made her angry. (I like it though)
Peter pavel123 03-14-2007, 07:57 PM Mostly done in Painter. Kraellin 03-14-2007, 11:51 PM wow. you guys are good.
that's one of your best, peter.
steve, love the 2nd one. very painted.
palms, you got mood, girl :)
pavel, also painted nicely.
i went completely south. this one took a long time to find something that spoke to me more than just the gorgeous girl, which, you would think is enough, perhaps. but i wanted something else and couldnt find it... for a while. then it sort of came out of the dark and that's exactly what i ended up doing... something out of the dark. palms1 03-15-2007, 02:59 AM Thank you Peter and Craig,
Craig i see the moodiness is catching although yours is a mystical/astrological type mood and i think it is great
Palms Steve Conway 03-15-2007, 11:50 AM Many thanks Craig & Peter.
Yeah I think I like the second one better too.
Steve C. Awesome interpretations, gents. Gorgeous gal. She exudes attitude. I went with a sketchy/etchy rendition -- with attitude. Peter S 03-15-2007, 02:35 PM Craig what can I say? err looks like one of those SciFi Book covers, keep going south.
Lonk you made her look like Rita Hayworth, Oh dear showing my age again.
Peter Lonk you made her look like Rita Hayworth, Oh dear showing my age again.
I'll have to take your word for that, Peter. I kept thinking Brooke Shields as I was doing it. palms1 03-15-2007, 03:35 PM I'll have to take your word for that, Peter. I kept thinking Brooke Shields as I was doing it.
I must admit i thought the same as Peter but now you say it Lonk you have it and super image as well
Palms Janet Petty 03-15-2007, 07:02 PM In keeping with the moody feel, here is mine.
Janet
And looking at it after it is posted, I can see that the compression took a lot out of the detail. No those are not splotches. They are cracks and readily evident on the full res version. Go figure. :dizzy: :dizzy:
edit: Even after adding the closeup, it still lacks the original. At least one can see I tried. :) Kraellin 03-15-2007, 08:34 PM thanks, palms, peter :) that was an exercise that just kept going and going until i hit on that dark bit. i was about 15 layers in before it showed up and it took almost another 15 to refine it. but i like it too and may do more along those lines.
yup, i can see rita hayworth and brooke shields there. and i like that old style portrait look. nicely done, lonk.
janet, the lament of RetouchPRO'ers, 'only 100k'. *sigh*. you could post it in the gallery and get 200k. or maybe post it on image shack or one of those. i'd love to see the full sized version. sylvia1065 03-15-2007, 08:50 PM Just fooling around with pattern stamp tool + smudging...
Sylvia lkroll 03-15-2007, 09:01 PM Cool stuff folks and thanks for the challenge Peter. Thought a bold smudge would look cool, so that's what I did. Attached is an extremely low quality version. Click on the thumbnail to see the high quality version. :)

Have some pity for me and my mouse Peter. lol
Hope to do better with a real smudging too. Like I said in another post, I need the practice. :)
Photoshop: Now you all know why I like filters. lol Peter S 03-17-2007, 08:27 AM Have some pity for me and my mouse Peter. lol

OK I think your joking.
Maybe I should have been clearer.
LK I LIKE THAT ONE.
Peter lkroll 03-17-2007, 03:00 PM Thanks Peter, but I'm not really happy with it. Again, I still can't wait to use a real smudging tool. Who knows; might become an artist yet (but until then, a filter simulator). lol
:) LQQKER 03-19-2007, 07:25 AM Peter - An attractive lady, nice choice.
Nice renditions submitted. MargaretM 03-19-2007, 09:50 AM Here's a watercolorish version done in Painter and Photoshop. Have enjoyed all the great versions posted here.
MargaretM alexmeta 03-19-2007, 10:58 PM Wow, so many excellent interpretations.
AHB and GertrudisPro ahutton 04-03-2007, 02:19 PM Had some time this afternoon finally. Here's my take on this beauty.
Amy Kraellin 04-06-2007, 10:25 PM lovely, amy! palms1 10-29-2007, 12:36 PM experimenting time again :surprise:
Palms Peter S 10-29-2007, 01:41 PM If my Bionic eyes are working????
I think you've been using Ditherfree again.
Have you tried using DitherBox that ships with Photoshop, Its on the CD somewhere I can't remember exactly where? The results won't be the same of course!!

Palms Mitch 11-07-2007, 05:59 PM Hi All,
I found this pic some time ago, and this is my version I made then. I can't remember all my steps other than I put a new background layer in.
This is such a striking image - which probably explains why each version on this thread is so good. GerryB 11-07-2007, 11:58 PM Two blurred layers (one color and one b&w), a b&w layer with chalk & charcoal filter, one b&w layer using find edges filter, and creative use of blending modes. I was experimenting to see what I could come up with. palms1 07-11-2008, 01:25 PM Experimenting time yet again, although it was good going through all the brilliant work that has been done already on this one
those where the days when Peter used to find some superb photo's for us to play around with, unless he comes up with a new one i suppose i will have to go keep going through the old ones ( mind you there are some brilliant ones there )
GET the HINT Peter ?
Palms sidhebeauty 07-11-2008, 04:54 PM So this is my attempt. made her the modern mona lisa. Love yours gilbert. Really liked palms' B/W version :bigthmb: (though, I think that without the arm it would have been a little better).
I went a bit dramatic.
Basically: crop, smudge and blend.
